It's definitely something a little elbow grease will fix. However, I did find that my Boston Pro 6.5s were snug with their back to the window when it was down. As Mindcore said, there is lots of room in the panel for building out from the door.

P.S. what are your plans for amp (location etc)?

 

I'm not getting an amp until sometime next year. I'm not sure what the options are WRT location. I'm aware of the trunk, below the panel in the middle, but would like to know what other options are. Also, I'm interested in where one might put a subwoofer. Is there space behind the seat? What are the slots in the back panel behind the seat for?

Insofar as brands, power, etc., I have no idea. Still lots of research to do.
