I decided to take Friday off so took my car for a good 4-5 hour drive up into the mountains. At no time did I exceed 130KMH (except when passing) but I did have a few good VTEC sessions in lower gears. When I got back I had to top my oil up ..it was 1 notch down on the stick.

It doesn't realy bother me but am wondering if this car ever stops burning oil?

Muz,
I check mine by the book, that is everytime a fill her up with petrol. While my car seemed to use an excessive amount of oil, especially after the #4 cylendar rebuild, all of a sudden it seemed to do fine. I just do not know? I think synthetic oil is one thing that helped.

After 14,000 miles and 4 oil changes I still have not used a single drop of extra oil. I don't VTEC all the time but try to get there at least once every day. I guess some S2000 use oil and some don't. I got one that doesn't.

I have replaced nearly 3 quarts of oil (Mobile 1 Syn) over my 2001's 4300 miles. It is easy to see where it is going by the tiny specks of oil that I see on the bumper every time I wash the car. I switched to non synthetic for this 3500 miles to see if there is any change in this issue. I may be crazy but in the time Ive had the new oil (Castrol 5w 30 from the dealer) the engine doesnt feel as strong.
I also had the diff fluid changed so I could see if there were any abnormal particles in the diff, but it was very clean....no chunky stuff. I think they replaced the diff fluid with valvoline 80/90? Gear oil.
I like my service people at Classic in Orlando, but from now on Im bringing my own Mobile 1 oil, filter, gear oil, etc...

Also had to add 3 quarts within the first 4500 miles of my '01. It's kinda fun though -

I'm at 1600 miles and I used 1.5 quarts of dino oil already. As long as it is normal, no complaints here.

The California Honda Tech rep has seen problems with oil consumption on NSX and S2K's that use synthetic oil. Especially if the oil is changed prior to adequate break in.
