There will come a day when parts will few and far between and people will stop saying it makes mine worth more. I never want to see an S go down. Its so selfish and short sighted.
+1 short sighted big time

Price going up only matters if you're selling and never coming back to the S.
+1 to both of your comments... there are those of us who wish to keep their S for a LONG time, possibly to the point at which they become collectors cars. I do not want to see ANY S2Ks get totaled. I could care less about my resale value, it's going to go up or remain level regardless since the car isn't made any longer and there is no such thing as an affordable sports car from Honda these days. Not to mention one that is so balanced, revs high, and provides the kind of experience an S2000 does.

Anyone who is OK with S2K's being totaled is a fool.

I think Insurance makes a car salvage when repair is a certain percentage of the value of the car. Also for that video, that reminds me to grab good tires and decently wide ones for the back to prevent such thing.

I can agree with some of you saying that young drivers get in over their heads when driving a rear wheel drive sports car like the S. But I gotta say, most of these crashes come from the drivers being irresponsible and stupid, two traits particular to, but not limited to young drivers. Being 20 years old, I use serious caution when driving my car and I plan to go to a few autocross events to familiarize myself with the car.

Come on! Give us young guys a chance!

Since they have to use local cars and since our cars are rather rare they have to take from what they can find and start adding or subtracting at what seem like random. When I totaled my 06 about 2 months ago they used a 16k mile car to compare to my 97k mile car and subtracted something like $10k for mileage. Unless your local dealer is selling your exact car they are going to use pretty random number to generate a payoff amount, they say it's based on market values but I just don't see it, especially since market value on these are all over the place.

Wow this is really rough reading. im 22 and i feel like im one of those stupid kids your talking about. except this is my third car, second RWD. one. my first car was a crown vic and i had my fair share of antics and scares in that boat. guess thats why i still haven't totaled my S yet

Not all kids are assholes though. but a lot are. Got a 20 year old friend who drives his 93-95 boosted rx7 like a grandpa. and 20 year old friend who just drove his 05 wrx into a tree speeding up hill. looks just like that spa yellow now.....

I with you on that , i work at a Salvage yard ....and some of these cars we buy are just a fender and a bumper away from being back on the road.....

I can vouch for the fwd to rad crowd. I grew up, and still have, with a crx as my dd and toy car. I autocrossed it, tracked it once, etc. and I've been road racing a civic for the past 6 years. In a fwd car, if it's setup correctly, you're basically full throttle through a lot of corners, maybe feathering it a little. My dad recently picked up a 92 miata so I took it for an autocrossed a few years ago, it was different, but not crazy loose like the s2000's. I guess I know enough, just from being around racing my whole life, to know basically what to and not to do when you do feel the car start to let go, but most of my friends have no idea. I just hope I don't get too confident, that's probably what happens in the first month or two, inexperienced drivers get used to it and then push the limits.
