Thanks, but they already ordered the plastic window. I will just put tint on it and keep the well clean. Hoping for the best.

I wonder if they handle other defective issues similarly

Unlike holes in the soft top which are easily seen and diagnosed, the other tsb items such as tranny whine, cv joint shake, etc have to be documented and diagnosed more thoroghly...you leave it at a dealership for them to fess up to it.

Once you get a finding of fact though and you don't like the cost answer, you should rattle hondacare's cage as hard as possible to get them to goodwill your problem. It never hurts to ask!

The latches broke on my car and poked a hole through the roof. My dealer first told me everything is taken cared of under warrenty. after the repair, they told me that the latches is covered but not the roof and instructed me to call Honda Customer services. I did and like you said, I got a case number. 3 hours later I got a call back from the dealership and said that the case manager investigated my case and everything is taken cared of, including paper works. Got all fixed up for $0!!!

I'm reporting out on my recent attempt to get a good-willed top.

I was denied by American Honda despite the dealership representative reporting that my top was "defective." He also put in a good work for me, because I have been having my service done there for years.

American Honda said it was a case by case basis. The main reason was that my car was 5 years old and the rep indicated that it was pretty much was an auto deny no matter what, unless the dealer indicated you were a really really "special" customer. I then asked if they would split the cost with me. Still no.

If you look up in the thread you will see that Terd F. was denied on his initial attempts at getting goodwilled for his holy top. Then they changed their tune.

1. I would call hondacare back and ask to speak with a SUPERVISOR if your iniitial case rep is giving you the runaround.

2. Rattle off how GREAT a customer you are of honda products. Make up cars, motorbikes, lawnmowers, generators etc you have owned in the past and what wonderful customer service you have received up to this point. Point out that your honda service dealer considers this a DEFECT and that you know personally of many other soft tops with this DEFECT.

3. Ask him to reconsider your case.

4. Point out to him you belong to an online Honda forum and are airing your concerns with the membership. Tell him Honda is receiving a very bad rap online for their increasingly negative stance toward their loyal customers.

5. If you still get a negative response, get his name and then ask to speak with his supervisor OR get a phone number/address of the VP of customer service to escalate this matter to the proper level.

6. Repeat process until they cave.

Goodluck. If you rattle the cage enuf you will get some relief.

Well after 3 weeks I got a call back saying that they will cover 25% of the repair. I stressed that my car has low mileage and that others with the same year had their tops replaced 100%. I was in the middle of something when the guy called so I did not have time to debate. I will be calling him back today to speak to his supervisor. Time for round 2!

Stress the power of the internet to the supervisor you speak with to help bolster your argument.

I think a bird or something pooped on my soft top and have used everything to get it off. Its oval shaped and kinda white. Its kinda in the weaving, do you think they will replace it?

Btw, how do the holes get in the soft tops. I dont have any yet, but was just wondering.
