The guy I purchased my '02 S from traded in a '00 Vette to get it. He said he never once regretted getting rid of the Vette for the S. He also recently just sold his STi and other fun toys so him and his wife could purchase a bunch of farm land.

The insurance is higher because of the parts availability out of Japan. USAA told me that the car is more likely to be totaled when damaged because of the price and availability of parts.

I went from a 1968 SS Camaro big block 427ci./630Hp. to my dream car a 1967 Corvette conv. Stingray Then I thought I wanted a Porsche and looked at a 1963 356B but the car was too crude and this is coming from a guy that owned a lot of 60s American mussel cars. Then I drove the Boxer and loved it but not the price. Went and drove a new MR-2 Spyder and I bought it Drove the car a year and missed what I was use to, an American platform....Front engine, trans, and rear drive. I still wanted a new challenge to build (not another mussel car) so I looked into the S2000. I looked for 6 months before finding the right car, a 2002 with only 4500 miles I bought it at Christmass of 2003
This car is the best car I have ever owned hands down It gives me the challenge that I was looking for, to build a Japanese 4ci. car to run with the American V8s. It is civil but not too much, it has all the amenities you want with out being gadgety. There are many places to improve on the car but, it's great just the way it comes from the factory. How many cars can you say that about? The best thing it's a Honda it will run forever at about 30 mpg

Oh Ya I have Allstate 100/300 liability plus full coverage with a 500 deductable and pay about 110 a month but, I am not getting a discount on this car (I have three vehicles) I get it on the others. we had an incident two years ago and lost the discount. If I were getting it it would save me about $50 a month

Can I get an AMEN
I love the S even though I did trade it in, but damn, I think I would have kept the 67 Stingray. Just my opinion but that car is appreciating right now not quite as much as the 63-65 but I still would have kept it. Not many people around actually own cars that go up in value. Believe me, the S is not.

I was told the same thing by USAA

I have a Z06 and my S2000, and I love them both.

The Z06 is so easy to drive, even in traffic on a daily basis. Ingress/Egress is much easier than the S2000. It has a much bigger trunk and cabin area in general. Handling, power, torque are all there.

The S2000 handles very, very well (not quite as good as the Z06 though.) The brakes are excellent, the shifter is AMAZING. I feel more connected to the car. I wouldn't describe the connection to the car as Numb with the Z06, but the connection with the S is just better.

I get into more trouble with the S2000 than the Z06, so if you are worried about "warnings" be advised that you are less likely to get a "warning" in the S2000, and more likely to get a ticket.

What I'm looking for is more handling, more nimble, quicker, more fun! ...The torque and speed on the straight will not be missed...nor the "warnings".
I had an '01 C5 Coupe with bolt-on mods (intake, header, exhaust, 4.10 gears, Z06 wheels/tires, short shifter). I ran a 12.29 at 117mph on streets with that car. I also autocrosses and tracked it on road courses around Texas and beyond. I LOVED that car. I sold it because the C6 was coming out and I got an offer that was too good to pass up.

Anyway, now I have an '05 S2000. To be honest, in day to day driving, the S2000 is arguably more 'fun.' It feels more nimble/tossable and dropping the top on a nice day and ripping around keeping the engine above 6,000rpm really is good fun.

I am tracking the S2000 at MSR in a few weeks, so I am looking forward to seeing how it performs on the track. Now, I had HUGE race tires for my Vette, so I don't expect to be nearly as quick, but it should be fun either way.

In summary, you'll like the S2000, it really is a pure, fun sports car.

The Vette was fun to drive, getting rubber in all 4 gears was a blast. The car is a great car to own if you have a few toys to chose from to drive. The thing was that after a long drive you just wanted out, and I would not get the bug to drive it agin for a few weeks (short term memory). It leaked when it rained (they all do) the defroster was the head lights were like 2 candles, radio! what radio, it was in the dash but that was about it, the wind noise that came through the car even with every thing up droned the sound of the engine, No a/c ect....ect..."You may say I would have kept it" but life is short and so is money it was time to move on and I was not able to keep the Vett and buy another toy I have great memories and pics to look at. The car was sold twice since I sold it, once for $109k and about a year plus ago for $140k I sold it for far less than this. It wows me to think I had a car that sells for those numbers
The MR-2 Spyder got more looks from the ladys than the Vette ever did, the Vette was a mans car. Guys would fall over them selfs to just be near it. If you were gay it would have been the best car to own.

lets see.. I went from a 97 Cobra, to a 98 Vette(FE1 base suspension and auto tranny) to 02 S2000 and traded the S2K in on an 03 Cobra.. yes the S2K was the best handling of the 4 cars, but I don't think that I'd trade the Cobra in on a S2K if I had the chance now..

would I like to get another S2K, probably or heck just get the Ariel Atom

If you are just looking for a "fun" everyday car, you wont be disappointed by the S2000 especially if the Vette was stock.
