Test Pipe?
Invidia is a cat back, but they offer a test pipe as well. (not unknown to most of us) In Cali you probably aren't going to pass SMOG. I heard of a guy in GA doing it. However, the cat is only 5 bolts, and the O2 sensor. It takes 30 minutes to swap out, and if you save yourself a lot of worry installing it after your SMOG check. If you're worried about visual T1R makes a TP that has flanges for your stock cat shield to be bolted onto and make it look like your OEM cat.
Mikey you're crazy. At least I don't pass out with a 1/4 eaten steak in front of me
Anyway, installing an exhaust/test pipe is a good first mod to do on your car. It will give you some experience in the most important aspect of working on an S2k, figuring out how to get the damn thing off the ground so you CAN work on it. I would just run a test pipe and swap the cat back in for smog checks. Luckily in my state they don't worry about emissions. I've been running a header back exhaust for months now. If they ever institute smog checks in Columbus, I'm moving.
