Hey gang...as you know S2KDays is 6 weeks away. Here's the deal. We have a lonely 26 people signed up...a few of those haven't paid yet. But we cannot wait any longer. In fact, I just got off the phone with the hotel and asked them to draw up a scenario for canceling the event altogether if registrations don't start pouring in. If we DO cancel the event, we will have refunds for everyone...
This is code-red critical...
We are all baffled how this has gone off. We have put our hearts and souls into planning what we all expected to be a huge, history-making event. And this is how it evolves. We are all perplexed at how this is all working out.
Procrastination is a human trait, but it's inconsiderate when I have asked repeatedly for you to step up to the plate, register and pay. I'm met with little in return...but for those who listened and signed up, thanks. Some of you have made huge payments...thank you for listening.
We are also most likely going to give up the track time...it's likely, but not for sure yet, that Krazik will be taking over the two track days at Thunderhill and we won't have anything to do with them. The payments that have been made for track time will be transferred to him, so you won't be out any cash if you have paid for that already.
We tried to make the event as affordable as possible and we even took a loss on the first round of registration fees. Now it gets more expensive. Waiting is not only inconsiderate, it's more costly...
If you have questions, please ask. If you are planning on going, sign up. I don't know what else I can do to tell you how critical this is to make the event happen at even a fraction of what our original expectations were. We are all more than a little baffled...our orignal expectations were 250 drivers, plus their guests. We'll be damn lucky to host 1/3 of that, at this point.
Please register today...help us preserve what little sanity we have left. At this point, we are all doing this ----------> We don't want to be doing that any more...our heads really hurt.
We can make it work, but we have to have it happen IMMEDIATELY. Make the commitment to go and let's party like rock stars in June. I will know more when I talk to the hotel again tomorrow...I'll update this thread after I do.
Bummer JsnS2k...how about renting one? The event is open to all present and future owners, btw...
California has the greatest concentration of S2000s in the country and we expected to have a huge turnout from California alone, not to mention all the western states. But in fact, one couple is making the trek from South Carolina. We expected 100 PLUS from SoCal. Tons from the Bay Area. It's just one of the most confounding things not to see what we all expected...it's not too late, but it's close.
We have so much vendor participation this year. Last year was big, but given the credibility and the energy that we created from S2KDays Asheville '01, we expected this year to be so much bigger than this year it's not even funny.
Here's a shot of the parking lot where we had everyone park their cars. It still makes me smile what a crazy/fun/awesome weekend it was...
So check out the S2KDays forum if you are unfamilar with the event and let me know if you have any questions. My email is gregstevens@ameritech.net.

My plans were to fly out to this event and to attend driving whatever rental Avis had available. I wanted to meet everyone and just have a good time. Unfortunately I have obligations in Florida that weekend that make it impossible for me to attend. The same thing happened last year and kept me from making it to Asheville.
I hope people will sign up for this great event so that it can work and so that there will be another event next year that I can attend.
