I just have to say that this really sucks.

I expected there to be a huge turnout based on the enthusiasm and support that everyone on this board usually shows.

The Sacramento area is great. The foothills and the Sierras have so many roads perfect for the S2000, like the very scenic and historic Highway 49 that winds throughout the foothills. And Lake Tahoe is only 90 minutes away!

There's lots of things to do in the area. You can go whitewater rafting down the American River, or if you wanted to see and play in the snow, there's still quite a bit left up near Tahoe (took the kids sledding just a week and a half ago). If you wanted to go wine tasting, Napa Valley is only 60-75 minutes away.

As for Thunderhill (T-Hill), it's a pretty decent track with some very nice turns and a great long straight-away that'll let you wind up your S2000. And it's relatively safe if you do run off the track (you're not going to crash into any walls).

I was really looking forward to this event and the Saturday drive.

meat, gregstevens, sondra, et all,

I'm so sorry this didn't work out. I know you guys busted your humps trying to make this happen, and I just want to add my thanks for all your hard work . You've always produced excellent events and outstanding good times, so it's a real loss.

Ron and I originally planned to come, but would need 2 weeks off to make the event and enjoya real "vacation" cross-country drive home. It came down to a time issue for us. However, I too, am very surprised at the lack of local participation. I thought the CA regional events were pretty well attended.

Here's hoping S2KCA comes out OK. Thanks again, and don't give up on us.

We will hopefully announce the fate of the weekend today
Did I miss something or did Greg already pull the plug yesterday?? I went and got tickets for the Sears Point NASCAR race already.

Well, I'm out of the office and offline for 3 days and the world ends. Wow. I'm really sorry that this happened, and I'll toss in my 2p about why I didn't sign up. Yet. As others have posted, the economy out here sucks. I laid myself off a year ago, and don't have anything yet. I have been doing some writing, some consulting, but mostly not much. Nearly $200 for the weekend (and track days were never of interest for me, personally) is not something I can commit to any earlier than I absolutely have to. If at all. Right now, it would be not at all. I was hopeful that the May royalty check would be big enough to do it. Location is an issue too -- far enough to be a pain to do as a commute, but not so far that I can justify the hotel cost if I did decide I could go. And sunny sacramento in June couild be fairly unpleasant.

But let me also make it clear that I really appreciate all the hard work that went in to this.

Go away for a week (no not fun) and look what happens.....

My wife and I attended S2KDays 01 and had a great time. The time of year and distance was right for us. April! a chance to get to some warmer weather after a long winter. We were blessed with great weather that weekend and drove topless most of both directions!

We wanted to drive to CA and attend S2KDays 02. The track wasn't the draw but side trips to Redwood National Park and other big tree sites where.

So, what happened? I also work in the IT industry. I still have my job but have to do more with less. I'm responsible for the roll out of major new application software release and there are hassles galore. The release dates have slipped by months and now my other planned vacations may be in jeopardy.

On a personal note, my son and daughter are involved in sports and will also be involved in camps in June. We are the chauffeurs and gofers.

So, in a nutshell, April and May or late September - October work out better for us as long as we can get the grand parents to watch the kids.

I'm sorry to hear that the event has gone down the tubes. Not because I was attending because I have no doubt that tons of time and personal commitment went into the planning effort.

S2000s may be common in other parts of the country but here in Minnesota I've only seen 5 others in nearly two years! Of course, during the winter mine is in hibernation.

Sondra, Greg, Brad and others who I don't know by name. Thanks for all your efforts! I'm sorry that this has turned out to be such a disappointment.

I'm all ears for future events!

Thought i would add my 02. THe bottom line 4 me is that my wife will be recuperating and maybe still in the hospital from surgery 10 days before so i can't be away 4 an entire weekend.
I also have to point out that I was taken aback by the registration outlay. Because of the economy i haven't gotten a raise in 2 years but at least i'm lucky 2 be workin but scared that my gig could end at any time! The almost $400 for me and my son to go is alot of bucks no matter how nice a planned event u have. I have to compare that to $390 that i spent last january for my son and I to go to the 2002 laguna seca world superbike races in july with the big dog ticket package ie hot pits, paddock passes, grandstands, preferred parking etc for 3 days.
All I really need out of something like this is the other owner/drivers to meet and some fun group driving where the only cost is gasoline. California roads can supply all the entertainment and scenary for free! So i'll cruise over saturday and hope to meet whomever, do some yappin and ridin and gawking and maybe stay 4 dinner.

I was all over the idea in the early stages when the meet was to be in the Monterey area but trying to sell the wife on Sacramento in June was a big "no-go". When I am at the track what was the wife gonna be doing in Sacramento? She could care less about the track time but would have been interested in driving around the coast.

Something S2KCA thought was a strongpoint may have backfired, the amount of S2000's in California. Seeing a gangload of S2000's is no big deal for most of us. We had about 70 cars for a 1 day meet and drive put together by the Irvine Boys, and those we just local guys for the most part, nobody had to drive more than an hour or so.

Best of Luck anyways for 2003.

i hadn't thought of that, i mean sacramento, as soon as i read it was sacramento i guess i said to myself mentally , gonna be damm hot in a big hot city end of june, however it is central to some awfly nice drivin like real close to the sierra foothills and beyond! But i guess that area would not excite alot of passengers as a central destination!
