I might be able to use my garage from time to time, since other people use it sometimes... ill either get seat locks or weld them down.. hardtop is a bit expensive and hard to find now a days unless you order online.. alarm ill be putting a Clifford G5 with all its accessories..

Which quick release is cheap.. but not tooo cheap and gets the job done?

I don't get it.. You say you live in a "huge house that is gated"...
If this is the case a $2000 hardtop should not be expensive for you or a $150 quick release hub....

Bottom line if you have insurance you have nothing to worry about.

You could just get seat locks.

Parroted by those who think they're expert criminal profilers and not supported by history (i.e. it's rare). Reupholstering is definitely cheaper than replacing seats. Good luck driving your car without seats whereas you'll be just fine driving with slashed seats.

Not having seat locks doesn't guarantee that your interior won't be trashed or completely gutted. Search around and read rather than randomly speculate.
Plus it helps the whole S2k community at large every time someone buys seat locks. If every S2000 had seat locks, then no seats would be getting stolen, making it less lucrative for thieves to break into our cars.

On the other hand, if you don't buy seat locks, you're giving thieves easy access to take your property. Personally, I'd rather protect my property. If a would-be thief wants to vandalize my seats for trying to protect them, so be it, but at least he won't get to make a profit from his crime against me.

I'm a believer of not worrying about things that are beyond my control. I would definitely buy the car that I wanted regardless of theft rate. All you can do is fully insure the car & have an upgraded alarm. I'm just as happy today with my S as the day I picked her up @ the dealership 2 years ago. The S can take it to the next level of fun when you put the top down(or off in my case).

I agree the S2000 is a much better car. The 370Z has better straight line speed but through the twisties it is a heavy pig compared to the S2000.

Depends on preferences and priorities (as with any matter involving subjective preference). If you want a GT the Z is a better fit. If you want the experience that the S offers then the Z isn't.

I would get seat locks to keep the seats in the car. A hard top prevents a soft top from being slashed but nothing prevents a thief from prying glass or breaking it to get in. I would not get a hard top just for security. An alarm with non standard install and a proximity sensor can help too.

If vandalized, you can repair and recover seats for $2-3k, about 30% what new seats cost. Plus, once thieves know they can't get the seats they will be less likey to return.

If you have insurance a slashed top is no big deal. IMO its a lucky break of sorts on a wear item. If you have a gated house why don't you have a garage?
