throttle cable vs drive-by-wire
I had a brand new 2006 DBW in '06 for 2 weeks before I got my old '04 back (long story for another thread). There were two differences for me that I recall, one was I could hear the electronics with the top down. When stopped it sounds like the high pitched sound that BBQs sometimes emit, but it was higher pitched and fainter. I was able to pinpoint it from the DBW area. This really, really annoyed me. (I've been told I have hearing like a dog.) The second is the drive felt to be more 'muted', although the technical performance was just like the throttle cable, it just seemed to lack that mechanical feel and control that I enjoy from a throttle cable.
