Timing tensioner issues?
I am looking to buy an 04 or 05 S2000. I heard that there were some timing tensioner issues (not even sure what that is) in the earlier models. Does anyone know if this affects the 04-05 models?
Anything I should be aware of like recalls? Hear the latch sometimes has issues and it makes loud noise, even with the top down.

The issue really affect all years.
You may have a car that goes through 3 TCT's and another that the TCT lasts 100K miles. Mine has started going bad at 72K on my MY02, and I just got another.
The part is just over $100 and takes a few minutes to replace. It can even be rebuilt by sandblasting a part to make it last a long time.
Basically, it's a flawed design.
The early models had soft latch strikers for the top, replaced with a harder metal for the hardtop...I think these were standard on MY02 and up. Even then, it's $50 in parts and a few minutes work to replace them.
