You shouldn't blame the car or the tires. Because of all the ambulance chasing lawyers that populate this country, people have a real hard time taking responsibility. You mentioned in one of your postings that you had no rear wheel drive experience prior to owning this car. This is the reason you spun out.

Anyway, as far as the DUI is concerned, if I were you I would spend as much money as possible defending this to the end. Is there a police video tape of your sobriety test? If so, you can request to see that and if you did a good job, then take it to a jury. You were not over the legal limit, so this is their only evidence. Unfortunately Amerika has an all-or-nothing, lock them all up approach to its penal system. Mandatory sentencing, etc. Look at drug sentencing laws. The same hypocrits that have been in favor of these tighter and tighter standards have themselves been pulled over (President of MADD, Attorney General of Wisconsin, etc). One of them said "how can I be drunk, I only had a couple of glasses of wine?". Well.. wake up lady thats what .08 is. A person who is tired, has taken some otc allergy medications, etc are or can be just as impaired as someone with 2 glasses of wine. I've often thought that a good wakeup call for America would be to have the police pull everyone over one Friday or Saturday evening and give them a breathalyzer. Anyway, good luck with your case. A DUI will stay on your record for life in most states, and if convicted, you will most likely be forced into selling your s2000 as the insurance you will be paying for the next 3 years or so will be much higher than your car payment.

I run Dunlap SP5000s in the winter. Same sizes as you mentioned were on your S. They are surely not SO2's in the summer, and they perform much better in the wet and cold. The 225 rear size is close enough to the SO2's that to me it just didn't matter. Pretty much any other tire, though, and I'd stick with the 245 recommendation in the rear.

I don't think you will be able to blame the accident on the tires. I ran on the SP5000s all winter, took an autocross class in them, and drove on them on a long distance road trip, all without spinning the car out of control.

From what you said, with dust on the road, that could very well have been a major contributor to your accident, along with the fact that you had been drinking, whether you felt imparied or not.

I'm glad to hear that it sounds like no one was hurt in your accident, and good luck in working something out.
