Top replacement done wrong...
Out of the 11 S2000s owners I know that live within a mere 10 mile radius of me, I'm the only one to have my top replaced....its far from being a 'widespread' problem. Folks like 'purple haze' seem to have nothing better to do than instigate wild rumors and blow things out of proportion.

Just an FYI for all the newer (mostly 06 it seems) owners who have experienced tears in their tops and have required replacement.
How can you state the top problem is merely a "rumor" when you have this problem? I have the same problem! Are you stating that only a mere few of us have this problem?

dont be so friggen ignorant. New top at 20k miles and then another new top 3k miles later for me. Search for holes in soft top. The number of threads you will find is comparable to "just bought an s2000", or "which exhaust should I get".
I clean and use 303 protectant on my top weekly and always have. I also help the elastics do their job and still getting a hole. I sure as hell don't expect my top to last the life time of the car, but I do expect it to last a 5-10 years.

Why are we still debating this top issue. There are obviously people with tops that have had premature wear, so it is no doubt a design flaw and QC issue. Whats the argument here?
