Default Top Secret CF hood

I'm planning to buy the tp cf hood. But i'm still doubting why, cause the hood is vented. And i've never seen one in front of me or know someone that has one, but when it rains, doesn't it go true and fall on the motor? Or it doesn't matter? Thx

You can utilize the supplied rain channels but if you just leave it open, yes, the rain will fall on the motor. This, in itself is no big deal as many people hose down their engines for cleaning anyway. The only case where an open hood would be bad is if you have an open short ram air intake.

I know people hose down their motor, but when it's turned of, imagine your driving it and it suddenly rains, and you stop at the red light, wont that be bad for the motor?

I have only just cleared my T.S. hood through customs, so I don't have any real world experience to relay to you. These hoods have been on cars for some time now and I've seen posts from people who have driven in the rain and they have not indicated any serious problems with them. I hope some of them will see this thread and post their observations. I can only imagine that under such circumstances that you would get a bit of steam coming out of the vents.

As viper has mention it does go through and falls on the hood. Whether if matters is really hard to say. If I am not mistaken the Top Secret Carbon Fiber Hood has vent cuts basicly throughout the each side of the hood. I really don't see much problem on the right side of the hood (unless you somehow relocated your intake there). On the left side however is where your headers are and they get quite hot. If a lot of water got onto the headers it might crack the headers cause of rapid cooling, but I am talking like gallons of water. A little shouldn't hurt though.

Kinda like in a sense when your done braking hard, you don't just turn off your car and hose down your brakes cause it might wrap/crack your rotors.

As viper mention the really problem is the intake, you don't want water to seep into there or else! Hopefully I provided you with a general idea.

I live in England and have had more than a fair share of wind and rain water fall on the T/S hood. The channels cope very well and direct the water to the area where the radiator mounts.
If your at standstill you may get some water blown sideways through the vents but even then It only drops down to the area where the dampers mount, nothing gets on to the engine, inlet manifold or headers.
