Transmission Buzz...Honda says it's normal?
I brought my car in to the dealership (Larry Hopkins in Sunnyvale, CA) after having heard a faint buzz in the transmission when in 2nd gear and 3rd gear. Although it was not as prevalent as the deceleration buzz that earlier models experienced, it was nonetheless, still there.
My service rep just called me to inform me that the buzz was considered a "normal" occurence for the 2002. My car is a late year 2002 so it wasn't covered by the TSB.
I'm wondering what I should do and whether this is really normal? How should I escalate the situation should I need it? (This was a new rep that I dealt with, as the one that I usually speak to was out today). It just doesn't make a lot of sense that I paid $35k for a car that has a buzz in the transmission.
Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated!!
PS. I've got 17k mi, and car was delivered 08/02.

My car doesn't have any buzz and it's also an '02 model. I think it did have a little when new but went away quickly. Have your transmission fluid changed with an excellent fluid (like Redline or something) and hopefully, soon enough, it'll go away. I know some of owners on here exaggerated that their transmission is as smooth as butta, but mine really is; no notchiness, no grinding, no buzzing, etc.
Mechanical noise is unfortunately the norm. Changing the transmission oil can help reduce it somewhat. All cars have this noise, it's unavoidable but you don't hear it because they have far more soundproofing. The good news is you will get used to it
