Anyone have this TSB work done in San Jose/South Bay area???

Would appreciate any tips on the process. Spend 45 minutes driving 2 lane twisties (each way) in the Santa Cruz Mountains with serious engine braking on the downsides and would love to knock out the noise! Nearing 30K and burning up warrenty fast. Thanks in advance for any props.

P.S. What's the TSB number for the 1-2 shift grind? Same as for the deceleration noise or a different one? I think I got lost in the thread somewhere. Thanks.

I don't have any numbers, but I think that most S2000's don't have this problem, or if they do they are never repaired, because the owner didn't think that it was a big deal.

Mine was just about to drive me crazy, it was so loud. It was making the buzzing sounds as I drove it off the lot, brand new.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know to make sure you get a reputable and knowledgable Honda dealershp before you have any TSB's done. I just got my car back from the service department for the clutch tsb. After 12 days. Thats not all. When I started the car, it felt like the transmission had fallen out. I immediatley went back to the service manager and asked what the hell happened to my car. To make a long story shorter I basically left the car there for another 2 days. Got it back and started to drive off the lot and my steering wouldn't work. As you can imagine I am getting really pissed off. I left it again for 1 day and picked it up and now my clutch pedal is making a grinding and sqeeking sound when you push in. Also when I turn the steering wheel right while moving, an awful sound comes from the front somewhere. I have not taken the car back to the service department that did the work yet. I am trying to find another service deprtment to fix all the problems that they caused. The service department that did the original work is: Sam Swope Honda in Louisville, KY . Please don't take your car there to get anything done to it. I wouldn't even trust them with an oil change. Just my opinion and from experience. Thanks for listening.

There is little or no deceleration buzz that I can tell now with Star Stage II clutch.

I hope anyone getting their clutch replaced gets a reputable shop/dealer to do it, so thanks to j76ms and others for giving members a heads up on possible problem places.

For myself, I suppose I'd be agonizing no matter what place replaced my clutch. Having done the work myself, I feel good as to what was done in torquing every bolt, replacing every harness, etc.

Hey Prolene, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on what might be possibly wrong with my clutch since you have replaced your clutch. You already know the problems I listed above but now when I push my clutch in slowly and let it out slowly it sounds like opening and closing a really old squeaky door in a haunted house. I know it probably needs grease somewhere or something but I would like to have an idea of what to tell the next service department I go to. This noise can happen even with the car turned off. I have another problem. While driving, when I make a right turn another odd noise seems to come from the front driver's side. I have no idea what that is and of course I am not taking my car back to the previous service department to find out. I appreciate any input you can provide I just thought since you did this yourself you might know the parts inside that could be causing these noises. None of this was happening before I took my car in for the TSB 54. Thanks

Just wanted to mention 2 things.

I race a lot, and dump the clutch often at 7000rpm. I have 22,000 miles and the clutch and car seem just as strong as the day I first VTEC'd. I am, however, taking the car in to have them look at it for the buzzing noise and check the TSB.

Also, yes, I do believe honda designed the car's clutch to be the "weak" point in the drive train system. Not that our clutch is weak, but it's the weak point. The reason is, in case the driver does something stupid, etc, etc, the clutch will slip and take the damage, rather than snapping an axle, or making drivetrain soup and destroying your differential.

You want a clutch replacement much more than an axle and differential.

The design is a smart one. Way to go Honda.
