Just had our clutch on our 2001 replaced under the TSB#54. What a difference shifting down from 3rd to 2nd. This is how I had hoped the car would feel.

Had the work done at Paramus, NJ Honda no hassle (& only took 2-days)

I am about to buy a used 2001 s2k at 9000 miles. I have been reading the complaint about the clutch and I believe when I was test driving I did not hear anything. maybe it is because I did not pay attention. It will be a honda certified vehicle and it will have a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. However my only worry is that, will honda claim this as a user negligence if I take it back after purchasing it. has anyone ever face with this problem?

thanks red blur...
also, have you ever had a problem with your clutch in the 4th gear before. I heard sometimes it shifts into neutral by itself?

Dog, I believe that the clutch doesn't just shift into neutral. It's more like you get half way into fourth, and instead of continuing, the stick fights your hand.
Like just before I let out the clutch I realize that the stick is in the neutral position again. Not bad for me.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

First of all, the sound / vibration that the clutch makes isn't THAT bad.

Dog,
If you're thinking of getting an S2000, I wouldn't worry about all these clutch issues. Reading this thread you're hearing a lot of bad issues but I can assure you these problems are in the minority. 99.9% of S2K owners love this car with a passion and a few minor clutch issues shouldn't stop you from joining the ranks.

Dog, I agree completely with Red Blur. Consumer Reports rates this car as a best buy. Go for it and enjoy yourself. I would say that if the car doesn't exhibit any problems, now, don't worry about it. Honda is going to certify the car for you and it sounds like they are giving you a good warranty.

This forum, like many others, attract the hard core owners. It's no fun to tell everyone that you drove your car all day long and didn't have one problem. So, what you see here are owners with problems looking for advice, etc. The number of people with problems is generally a pretty small percentage of the overall owners. This forum only has a small percentage of the owners, maybe 10 - 20%. It would be nice to have many more.

Put the top down and have fun,
Bob
