There was an earlier review in Hot Version comparing the '00 S2000 vs '04 S2000 (2.0 JDM) and there was a bigger difference between them mainly due to upgraded 17" wheels and old technology S02 vs newer design RE050 tires.
I've seen this video and the AP2 did win mainly due to the upgraded wheel/tire combo. They ran the AP2 with AP1's wheel/tire set-up and lose time.

Have not seen the AP1 vs. AP2 2.0 video, someone put up the linky please!

Japan never got the 2.2L, it was always a 2.0L in the AP2.
FYI, that is false. As of MY06, JDM gets the 2.2L. However, from MY04 - MY05, they had a 2.0L.

It's really a drivers race, and despite that they are all pro drivers they are not all of equal skill. If you've seen a few of the BM or HV vids then you know what I'm talking about.

It's not likely that given equal drivers an NSX-R will be faster than a Gallardo and Murcielago around a track with a couple good straights, but some of the drivers are just better than others.

They do good comparisons, but they don't often eliminate as many variables as they could.
oh good another ap1 vs. ap2 thread! sure it's a driver's race because they are close in their performance but the question is which one is faster if the same driver took the car around the track. i have my nickel on the ap2.

Yes, we all know the benefits of more properly sized wheels and tires.

ive seen this video.. i believe it was in teh mountains.. its the same BMI video that they tested the new is350 and new miata in.. it was a rio 05 f20 ap2 and then they ran a 06 f22 ap2 right after... they said it was fairely equal but gave a light edge to the f20's. the unchanged gearing made it easier to stay in a gear and shift less in that particular mountain course. i have the entire episode in my pc but its 700 mbs. gl finding the vid.
