VERY Happy
Alright, so basically, what happened, previous owner abused the **** out of the car, probably traded it in when she got tired of taking care of it. I know its a she because her ****ing real estate business cards were all over the frame interior when I took apart the center dash to fix my shift boot.
At any rate, what PROBABLY happened from the looks of things, still waiting on the word, but she didn't change the oil frequently enough, destroyed the piston rings till they were non-existent and that in turn scratched the **** out of the cylinders/heads, valves, etc, basically it would be like ****ing your girlfriend with glass shards on your dick. Thats what happened to my s2k.
Carmax was ****ing retarded for selling me this car. And yes they are supposed to inspect it, but it is laughable the amount of shit they missed. They also put on the wrong kind of cleaning shit on the shift boot which ruined it, so I had to replace that. The mechanic wasn't even 100% sure that they didn't doctor the oil, it was a lot thicker than usual(I had never done an oil change first off, the car was only 2 months old, and I would never put in anything than the 10-30W). The only thing I can think, is that they thought the engine had some problems but that no one would notice. Thing is I noticed the compression going down, and I especially noticed my check engine light on every ****ing day.
Ironically, when I first bought this car I looked at Carmax's warranty, and bought it because this is a sports car and the previous owner definitely ****ed something up major, or else why would they be selling it? If it had a ton of mods I could understand, maybe they upgraded, but a bone stock s2k? There was definitely something wrong with it. At any rate, when I bought it, as the guy is bringing it to me to give me the keys, the check engine light goes on!! HAHAHA in my head I was like, man I am getting myself into a world of problems, but said eh whatev, I have the engine COMPLETELY covered and same with the tranny, and my thinking is, if something is ****ed up, I'll at least get new parts and maybe even a new engine, so its worth the risk.
Interesting thing about the retainers, I will have him take a look at that. He did a leakdown test, found out that the fuel pump was completely gone, like not functioning pretty much at all. I don't know how he ****ing missed this the first time, since he's the mr. big dick at the honda service place but he overlooked it. He is calling the master techs at Honda Headquarters and diagnosing everything. Carmax can be a douche about repairs, everything has to be pre-approved, and if they approve an engine teardown and something is not physically broken, they won't pay for the teardown or rebuild, ~$1000!!!! So, because they are ****ING assholes, I did everything I could to keep it running diagnoising it as much as we could without a teardown. And this is what happens, it probably already was the problem, but I'm guessing it went unnoticed in the first place because they never took apart the engine and looked in the block.
Honda has been amazing. They have stood to their word, and I paid for the first diagnosis, but since they haven't been able to fix the problem, they keep re-diagnosing it for free. Honestly, they've probably put at least 15 hours into diagnosing this engine.
The way things are working, I'm pretty sure they will replace the whole ****ing engine, there are just too many problems, and it honestly would probably be cheaper for Carmax to just drop a new one in rather than being cheapskates and putting in one part, and having it get ****ed up later by an overlooked broken part, and then having to replace both!
Oh and one more thing, aftermarket parts are not necessarily the way to tell if a car has been mistreated. In some cases, it's the lazy owner who leaves it bone stock who ends up ****ing up the engine worse. In a civic, I would be more cautious if there is any evidence of an aftermarket part history, in a performance sports car I would feel completely the opposite, or just be like I am now, and constantly paranoid.
As for the inlinePro shizzle, that is not stock with the turbo, they do a lot of shit to it. I'm not sure if thats the standard package or the dyno with the optional parts on there. But honestly, I think they do a great job from what I've heard and you get a real beast.
Here's what the turbo package looks like:
Turbo Kit Parts List ($3995)
inlinePRO Cast Iron T3/T4 Turbo Exhaust Manifold
Precision Turbo GT T3/T4(b/e) (Any SC or GT non-ball bearing series turbo)
Turbosmart 38mm Wastegate
inlinePRO Billet Blow-Off Valve
2.5" Mandrel-Bent Aluminum Charge Pipes (mirror polished)
inlinePRO 600hp Front Mount Intercooler
High Temp Charge Pipe Couplers & Reducers

Ah, a "knowledgeable" person. So what is the new compression ratio when the thicker gasket is installed? If you don't know (warning sign!), then give me the thickness of the origional gasket and the new thicker gasket and maybe I can calculate it. I've got a notion that the change will generally be insignificant in terms of preventing eventual engine damage due to detonation. Probably the only reason the boosted engines last any length of time is due to the engine detonation sensors seriously retarding the ignition timing when detonation starts occurring.
I know people with this gasket that are running around on 450+ whp and not a single problem, with that compression ration, a good tune, and that amount of power, the F20/22c will run for a long time.

You really should do some type of carfax search to see how many owners the car has had, and if/when it has been wrecked. I'd suggest that if there is any way possible, have carmax take the car back and get your money back.
don't forget, break-in period! use the required honda break-in oil, follow manual's instructions on no high revving, no 6th gear, etc. you'll get more carefree miles out of her. i would never buy a car from carmax, personally. that's just me. they know how to sell, but know little about cars. and all that abuse will trickle down to other areas of the car- differential, suspension, clutch, tranny, etc. i bought mine used with 19k mi on her, but bought it from a friend who i knew didn't abuse the car, but it is so strong in some areas and delicate in others, you really need knowledge of the car in alot of areas. i still don't know if i would buy from a ditzy babe or from a power-crazed dude, both are capable of severe abuse.....
