What does your s2k run in the quarter

Just about any car with a bunch of aftermarket suspension parts can out perform another car. So lets not start the battle of my penis > your penis.
We weren't talking about anyone's penis either, but if you're fixated on such things, there are more appropriate forums than S2kI.
BTW, I know you probably realize this, but it takes more than a bunch of aftermarket parts to get most cars to handle better than an S2000.

sorry, i meant no disrespect to the s2k, as it is a great car. i am buying an 08 for the wife soon. there is no s2k that is as prepped as my civic, and i haven't seen one prepped or as fast at the track. sorry.`

And Red...I think this is his car:

OK Chris...sorry...gonna call BS that you haven't seen an s2k that could keep up with your Civic in the turns.
Went and checked Nats results for the past few years and it seems that the fastest Stock S2k has been faster than you the last 3 years out of 4. Now I don't recall the run schedule, so maybe weather played a role on different days.
But at the '05 Toledo Tour, the quickest Stock s2k was only .35 sec slower on Saturday and was .33 sec quicker on Sunday.
And that was Stock vs SM. But you're right...no Nats level driver has bothered to seriously prep an s2k for BSP or SM2...but even if it were prepped to just BSP standards, I think your car would be a good bit slower.

Maybe I'm just too easy, but the way I interpreted the S2000/Civic statement I don't think I can call BS. When I read the comment I assumed that he was talking about a totally stock S2000, and nobody at the nationals is really totally stock, because at a minimum, they have R compound tires. I can't be sure looking at the picture, but if he's running R-comps (which aren't really "stock") on the Civic, it is going to outcorner any S2000 running on OEM tires. He'll easily pull a full G with the right tires.
I think that's what he was trying to say, and if so, it's not an unbelievable claim at all.
You can make an Opel Kadette pull over a G with the right tires and mods.

It seems to me that simply looking at steady state cornering numbers is potentially misleading, because there is very little steady state cornering involved in racing or autocrossing. Just because a car can pull over a G does not necessarily mean that it is a good handling car, and a foul handling car with lots of grip can be a handful (and sometimes downright scary). It seems possible that a Civic that produces higher grip still might not turn faster times on the track or autocross course.
Doesn't that seem reasonable?
Since I don't post my own data logs I hate to say this, but I'd like to see some kind of data from the Civic in question. If it pulls 0.91G or better then it will corner with or outcorner a stock (all OEM) S2000.
Anyway, I don't see why grip is such a big deal, because it's primarily a function of the tires. If you want a big increase in grip, you go to more aggressive tires, and it's a done deal, until you get well over 1 G. Of course, to get the car to work well with the additional grip, you're going to have to make other changes. Lots of cars deliver more grip than an S2000 running OEM tires, but that doesn't take anything away from the S2000 driving experience, which is unique, and IMO, what the car is all about. Yea, it would be cool if the car could pull 2.5 G's and had 1000 WHP, but it is what it is, and most of us wouldn't own the car if it didn't suit us.
IOW, why does anyone care how hard a modified Civic corners?

lol, nice checking up ya did there.... anyway, toledo tour was the first time on 710's. after that event, we changed the shock valving and had to double the spring rate. no, that wasn't a good event for us...
rain has plagued solo nats for the past 5 years, as it rained every time i was out there. i never saw AS run, as we were diff run days/groups.
regarding the BSP prepped s2k, jason tipple did it a few years ago, and was sorely outclassed. he is the only one i know of so far that has really put any sort of prep into one.
the red car is my old setup, but last year we made great strides with the release of the 275 hoosier. the car has phenominal grip now. point is moot, as i am in the process (past 2 years and counting) of building a new SM beast. 250 lbs lighter then my current car with 50 more hp. should be fun...
regardless, with no difference in weather, my car is faster at solo then a s2k. going to ga for the first tour? with any luck, we will run the same heat as AS....
