uh..

Please don't use the Corner as a repository to dump garbage ... Don't post, or post it in off topic Moderators there are probably a lot more friendly than me

Its been heading this direction for the past few years for all the reasons mentioned above. Makes me sick to my stomach.

There is an upshot though.... if you look, this year has had the most "I wrecked" threads ever. Darwin is with us and hopefully will be able to keep the idiot population down by them destroying thier cars while simultaniously increasing the value of our cars.
More wrecks = Higher insurance

Personally I'd prefer everyone keep it shiny side up and in one piece.

Since most of the people complaining are n00bs, a historical perspective: people have been posting threads complaining that S2KI (aka S2000online, Hondafans, et al) is going down the tubes since ~2001, when the site was less than a year old, and long before most of the people in here signed up. The truth is that the search function has never worked all that well, n00bs have always posted redundant threads without checking if someone already started the same thread, there have always been trolls and always will be trolls, the car has been getting more affordable and the owner demographic younger, and unless Honda comes out with something truly new (the CR does not count, the AP2 wasn't much in the way of new either), we really don't have all that much to discuss. The majority of the valuable information/content on S2KI is several years old and posted by people who've moved on. So is it going downhill? In some ways, yes.

But there's another side... the site is still full of great people who contribute to the site. If you're bored with S2000 talk, go check out your regional forum, the tech/racing forums, or even SakiGT's favorite areas, off-topic. Or just go for a drive.

For the most part, cthree, hondagal, and the rest of the admins/moderators/COs have done a good job keeping the noise level down so that new owners can join, ask stupid questions, and not get royally flamed for asking.

Easy solution for filtering out garbage: Allow guests to view only; a membership should be required to post anywhere on the board except the "Introductions" forum.

That way, non-members can still view and search for information and can check the board out before deciding to join. The "YO I NEEDS 4000hp FOR LESS THAN $100 SO I CAN BEATS MY FRIEND'S FERRARI STR8 UP!" topics that are so often posted by some guest with a name like JDMdoriftoS2kVTECftwYo!!1!! who just joined yesterday would be eliminated. A thought.

i think the biggest problem with forums, and with N00b posters is misinformation. the 'i heard this' and 'I read that' is a big problem. Although, I think the Mods do a good job of nipping it in the bud. My favorite was a strut bar post in the racing forum! Thumbs up to the mods!
