Very good thread - thanks for linking! I can't believe I read all 6 pages here at work..
The silver AP1 looks great. Having the pleasure of both owning a 2004 z06 and a 2005 s2000, I can honestly say that I believe you made the right choice. It's not always about speed/hp/lateral Gs, and I learned this the hard, expensive way, hehe.
WELL my first car was when i was 17 years i want a corvette c5 or a sti but my mom know that was my first car so she was not going to spend to much , so she gave me only 5000 $$$ dolars for a car i was like WTF... i want a sport car but i only have 5000 $ so one day i saw this tiny black integra GSR that was for selling i call and 3 hours later the car was mine b18c1 180 hp i was so happy with my crap boyracer while my school friends were going to school with bmw x5 and mercedes i dont care a sH-it because i always was putting 200 km down the highway... 2 years later i sadly sold the car with a lot of goddies then i pass like 5 months looking for my perfect ride and in a copart webpage i saw my white s2000 20000 miles with a little crash in front in socal so next day i bought it .pass like 2 months until the car arrive and 2 in the repair shop know i am so happy with my car i plan to stay with it for looong time... s2kkkk for live babyyyyyy
I was into American muscle cars. When Ford announced the "Terminator" I was hooked. I bought a black, 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra and began a two year process of upgrading its suspension. After some mild engine add-ons and about $10K in suspension adjustments, I thought I had a fast and good handling car. After market exhaust and other "goodies" made for one hell of a ride. I clocked an honest 0-60 in 4.1 seconds at an event in Bristol, TN and topped it out early one Sunday morning on I-81 at a GPS confirmed 153 mph. It was sweet, at least until I got the chance to drive a bone stock 2005 S2000. As old age approached, the thrill of burning rubber from stop light-to-stop light seemed less of a jolt than carving corners in a true sports car. So, I began the process of exploring the S2000, including this website as well as numerous others. I was a lurker and just read the many comments ranging from up-grades to track events. In December of 2006 and once the prices were as low as they would get at the end of the year, I found the right color and price in a neighboring state and made the jump. In a parting comment to my friends in a Stang forum I stated that I was "moving up" to an unnamed car with better handling, better quality, better reliability and re-sale, etc. A multitude of responses begged me to tell them that I was getting a Porsche 911, Audi RS8, Corvette, etc. When I revealed it was a Honda S2000, the out cry was incredible. I was chastised for buying a ricer and of all a "Hon-duh." So much for "The brotherhood of the Stang." I never looked back and to this day have blown away many a SVT on the curvy roads of Southwest Virginia. I've dropped an equal amount in the S2000's suspension and I can honestly save, "Nothing touches it on the track or road!? I still love the sound of the Fox body Mustangs and the looks they draw everywhere, but to those who really know cars, the S2000 is and will always be a driver's car!
Honestly, it was too much power for daily driving. I built it to 724whp before the gsx swap, and I could spin the wheels @ 80mph in 5th gear if i stood on it.
I got a great offer when i sold it. Then the funny part was my dad said i couldn't have an s so I went out and bought it for my 20th bday present to myself.... FIGHT THE POWER
I had a supercharged 99 Civic Si. Bought it new based on a Car and Driver review. Got a sponsorship from Jackson Racing. Had a ball with that car.
A fellow member of ClubSi.com who lived in the foothills north of Birmingham traded his Si for an S2000 about a month after they came out. I was up his way on business and got in touch with him. Could I come by and check out his new ride? Sure...no problem.
After ogling the car for awhile (Loved the seats...loved...the dip stick! And of course that cool "Start" button) he offered to let me drive it. I was sure he'd want to ride shotgun, but no, he wanted to try the Si. So off we went, him in the lead showing the way over nice twisty empty two lane roads. We went racing around the countryside...he knew where all the unpatrolled roads were...over perfect roads with just enough fall leaves on them to be swept up in the wake of the S. The day was perfect, the top was of course down. I was hooked.
Fast forward about six years. I owned a very interesting Galant VR4 but the trials and tribulations of a 14 year old car that had spent its first 12 years in the snows of Pennsylvania were getting to me. I sold the VR4 project to an Internet acquaintance from Wisconsin who flew in and drove it home.
I found a nice 03 silverstone S on eBay. It didn't sell. In fact nobody even bid on it, in spite of its price and its Honda Certified status. I emailed the seller (who was only a couple hours away in Pensacola, FL) and struck a deal over the phone.

Your response brings a tear to my eye. I had a 1999 SVT Cobra Vert. And I still haven't had the heart to tell some friends that I've bought an S2000. Two entirely different animals. And I prefer the S2000. Period.

I feel the same - I haven't told my c5/z06/z28 friends that I've bought an S2000 yet, but honestly, I prefer the S2000 to all of those cars.
Now if I could get my S2000 to sound like an SVT cobra... I think I could die happy.
Ah, the S2000. I went to a local car show of all of the "next year" models and there it was... a 2000 S2000 NFR on the showroom floor. I had heard a little about it, but when I opened that door and sat in it... oh man it was decided right then and there.
My first car was a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am, 2.4L 5spd, 4 door back in 2000. I got it just before the time Fast&Furious came out so I was into the modding phase but I didn't go overboard with kits and whatnot. After racking up $8000.00 in repair bills from many things falling apart over 3 years I finally got rid of the damn thing. This was beginning of 2005.
I spent a couple of months in college without a car since I lived on campus, making sure I found a sweet deal on my next one. I was looking at 2000 Civic Ex's and Si's and then I spotted a 2000 Integra GS-R, mint condition with low miles on eBay and won the auction for $10k. This was April 2005.
I was lucky to have it until June 11, 2008 when it was finally stolen from me. The cops found it stripped, downtown. It had been broken into 3 times in the past couple of months, it was only a matter of time before it was stolen.
So I found someone selling a 2002 Suzuka Blue with 15k miles on it in Orlando, FL on this forum and after 2 weeks of talking I flew out, bought it, and drove it home. I love this awesome car!
Coming from a fwd integra gs-r, i wanted a challenge. I know little about rwd platforms and heard that this car is tricky. My intentions were to learn this car from the ground up. So now i got it and i drive like a grandmother! because i cannot control the car yet. Waiting on classes or an open lot so i find the limits wet or dry and know what to expect so nothing will surprise me later.
Besides that, it looks beautiful, and get to have the top down. And it is honda reliability and ease of maintenance, gas mileage etc...
