-prior to owning my S, i drove a 98 integra type R..suited me just fine..was gonna keep her till she breaks but in 04 when the ap2 came i fell in love..i just had to get me one. the things that pursuaded me was the styling, 6-spd , being one of the best RWD handling car out of the box and being a top-down was also a plus..Never had a convertible before ...so in 05, i convinced the wifey to sell the R and pull the trigger on a Rio. so thats it in a nutshell.

MYsling.
ok nice to see another old mr2 owner.
i loved that car... dont think i'll compare the s2k to the mr2. they are jsut too different.

im going to be afraid of the power difference tho... like u said...
going from trubo to NA, my turbo mr2 wasnt stock either
I loved my MR2 aswell.
Still miss it sometime to be honest, but the S2K is just more fun somehow.

It is considably slower one a straight, but i never got 100% comfordble with the mid engine, despite LOTS off trackdays.

I always feard it would spin on the way out of corners and therefore it only gave it about 90% most of the time. Spon it lots off time, an learnd than an MR2 have a long way to the egde, but when you crosed the edge, you dont get a second chance to rescue, you just spin and hope you dont hit something.

The S2K is least as quick round corners as the MR2, and if you get over the edge, you are infact given a second chance to rescue it from a spin.
I have also spon the S2K on my first trackday, but only because i really pushed it hard to test out where the limit was.

Lets face it, driving fast in a stright line is really really boring !!!
(have done lots of 1/4 mile events in my MR2 before i realized it)

A track with lots af tight turns is the ultimate fun, especially in a S2K.
You really feel how the car was made for this kind of handeling.

You alsow feel this in great contry roads

Sorry 4 the bad spelling i only just know is starting to use my school english in whriting in this forum.

My first car was a 1973 FIAT 124 Spider, bought it brand new in Feb. 1974. Sold the FIAT when I bought my 2007 S2000. The FIAT had seen better days in 33 years that I owned it and it was time for some serious work on it. The S was the closest thing to the FIAT I could find new and I have never looked back.

yeah...I don't change cars too often, I bet the S is my last car.

I do own a FIAT Dino Spider also but that will never get sold, 8,500 RPM with 3 weber carbs feeding a V6, just too nice to get rid of.

first car was a 1995 civic dx coupe (still have it), I'm a big Honda fan so I had to have one of the best Honda's ever made. Hoping to get a NSX sometime in the future (5-10 years).

Mysling,
yeh the mr2 is very unforgiving. you cant really drive it 100% on the rd.
but i tihnk once u can master a mid engine, than a regular rwd should be easy.

1st Car: 89 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible Turbo
2nd Car: 96 Kia Sephia: POS!!!
3rd Car: 96 Acura Integra LS Coupe with BOOST! That's when I started my addiction
4th Car: 03 Nissan Maxima SE
5th Car: 05 Honda Accord
6th Car: 02 Honda S2000 (current)
7th Car: 08 Mitsubishi Lancer
8th Car: 07 Hyundai Sonata (current)
9th Car: 08 Lexus IS 250 (current)

Switched out of the Maxima because I bought the S...not my daily. Lexus is not my daily either: but the wife's. The Maxima did not have a SC/Turbo available for it yet and it was a garage queen as the S is now. The S had a 9K rpm redline, convertible (hadn't owned one in years), handling, cockpit feel, and lot's of upside..It's a Honda!

Always been a fan of Honda, but when I sold the Integra to a friend, I really missed the fun. Saw an S doing a "fish-tail" during a U-turn while in the Maxima and thought it would be nice to have a RWD car again.

Found the deal I was looking for and never looked back. I also said to myself, I will not trade the S..PERIOD. I don't want to re-live selling an emotionally "attached to" car.

think Elise, which is about as practical as a chocolate teapot). The S is a DD
HAHAHA! That's hilarious!

I just fell in love with the S from the first time I saw one... My first car was a big ass 93 cougar xr7 Special edition... The only thing special about it was that it was a 5.0L instead of a 4.6L, Then I wrecked it and bought a 92 civic hatch, fell in love with the smallness and the handling. $15-20k later I have almost a race car civic. Looking for something that would be fun to drive and reliable. The civic really turned me into a Honda guy. I need to take my civic off the road so I can do more to it, so now I'm going to pick my S up on friday! I've test driven it twice already. I'm so excited... even though my civic is faster, I miss the RWD fun factor my cougar had. I RWD/drifting... and I Hondas lol S2k!

I was 15 when I got my first automatic 2000 civic. At that age I went the rice route and kitted it and threw on the fart can. As each year went by I grew tired of it and added another

Reading that thread makes me glad I didn't even consider a Lotus.
