whats the lowest temp you dropped your top down?

the plastic window may crack... and it gets expensive
amen to that. I cracked mine in 25 degree weather the first day i got it. the friggin dealership wants $1000 to fix it. Such is the situation i find myself in.

25 degrees? man thats way to cold, yeh if theres ice out then dont open the top

why would the window crack?
and is there a difference between the glass and plastic?

bonds in plastic are more susceptible to breaking when the ambient temp is low. it's the same reason why anything frozen is much easier to break into pieces.

Well just picked up my used 00. The rear plastic window wasnt in that great of shape to begin with but I dropped it a few times in the 40's Was semi nice outside so I went for it. Wasnt too cold actually but then again put it back up it was cracked.

At first didnt think the window could crack, since thats some thick plastic, thought someone was being a ass and slit my window. So a few days later put it back down again, up it goes and this time HUGE crack.... im like damnit and then I found out not supposed to drop it in low weather.

Right now im not sure what im gonna do, ive got the cracks taped up with heavy duty clear packing tape but it looks like crap. Its expensive as hell to replace the softtop so was thinking about maybe trying to get a hardtop. Not sure tho.
