There is a long thread on this in the tech forum. The short answer is yes, it may be helping you. Certainly not as much as a pure tank of 100 would though. Fuel like Unocal 100 racing is formulated to tighter specifications. It burns quicker, cleaner, more evenly and this can produce measurable power gains.
I like the 10-30 Castrol GTX oil. It's engineered for high rev engines. If you want to go longer between oil changes.....say 5,000 + miles, then a synthetic may be best suited. I change my oil every 2,500 - 3,000 miles faithfully, and I just can't justify the extra expense on oil when it isn't staying in the car that long anyway. Castrol does it's job perfectly fine, and the hotter it gets...the better it lubes! Other oils (Thicker weights)....including synthetics, are not the way for me......I've had experiences of gum-ups on some oils, and have never ever had any problem of any kind with Castrol GTX oils. I used Redline in my '97 Prelude...expensive stuff, along with the fact that it caused my piston rings to leak!! got them replaced under warrantee but the engine was never the same. burned around 3 quarts per 3000 miles.
