why do some people not like the s2000
I had two LS1 Trans Ams (one auto and one six-speed) before the S and I must say that I miss the torque sometimes. I plan to pick up another one some day, but it will be to complement the S, rather than to replace it. I personally think that a Corvette made by Acura at an S2000 price would be the perfect car. No car is really perfect, but for the price, I think the S2000 is closer than the others.

Look at your own post for the answer. Guys like you, who
find it necessary to bad mouth someone elses pride and
joy are everywhere. Make your choice, enjoy it, and be glad that the next guy had the same opportunity.

I sell Hondas. Believe it or not, it can sometimes be a chore to sell a S2000. Some people are afraid of reving that car. If you are the everyday- typical - average driver (probably used to an automatic tranny), then reving the S above 4,000 RPM is too noisy and you're probably going to feel you are hurting the car. Let's face it - if you aren't reving the S higher than 4G's, then you aren't much faster than a Civic.
If you can get past that feat with a non-S customer (someone who wouldn't join S2Ki after buying his S), then you have to get past the two seater with no storage part. Keep in mind the whole time you are talking to someone who can actually afford a $30,000 car, so they are going to ask informed questions - like "how much will these headlights cost if they break" or "how much and how long do these tires last".
ALSO this is a new car, when you go for a test drive you've got to keep the car below 5,800 RPM so people don't get a true feel for the car. Most people in the market for the S are also looking at the Z4, TT, maybe the MR2, Boxster, and now the Crossfire - if you can't take a S into VTEC, then you have lost a sale! - Not everyone takes the salesperson at his word.
We all know that everybody has different buying motivations, but this is typically what happens with the S2000 when a "non-S" person is looking at one. I do not think these people walk away from the S with a bad taste in their mouth, but will probably comment in the future "that is a nice car, but not for me".
I hope this doesn't sound like I'm b!tching - I'm not - even though it is frustrating to lose a S2000 sale because they should be the easiest Honda to sell! I think this is what I am trying to say:
Until you REALLY drive the S it is very hard to imagine it doing what it does.

Two words,.......Honda Civic
All hondas that are performance oriented will always have the stereotype that they are econoboxes that kids have "souped up" to try to make them fast.
But if you are secure and not self conscious, you won't care what others think of your car. Just enjoy it.

Everyone has their own preferences. I enjoy my S2000 as much as the next guy, but I also like American muscle cars. Great handling and balance are wonderful things to have, but I really can't complain about big honkin' power and torque, either.
