why do some people not like the s2000
samkwon, im sorry your girlfriends don't have good taste in automobiles. i guess im lucky, my girl loves imports(she drives a rsx-s) and especially loves the s2000. shes also one of the few girls i know that knows how to properly drive a manual transmission(like rev matching, etc). we often swap cars for a day or two.
after i let them drive it
Besides.............most people who stop to talk to me about it want to know who makes it? They're surprised when I tell them it's a Honda. (And the women think it's a Ferrari......Lucky me
)...........All I can say is.......I LOVE my S2000!
My friend owns a Skline GtSt...he was impressed when I said that the s2000 could go from 0-100Kmh in 6.0 seconds (the same speed as his Japanese Turbo import).
He commented on the nice seats also as soon as he sat in it.
The best thing about the s2000 is that fact it only has two seats, so you don't get asked to taxi people around everywhere

I agree w/ status quo.
Originally, I was supposed to buy a SLK because of my brothers/family. They are big Mercedes buffs. Older one w/ CLK 430 convert and younger one w/ his C240.
We all have black cars, but Asian (well, Koreans) are big on status quo. My older brother w/ his own company needs to represent well, and same w/ my younger brother w/ his partnership of his own company... So, status quo is a big thing for Koreans, if not, it's completely opposite.
My 2 cousins drive Kias (there parents own property and drive fancy cars), but they are regular blue collar workers and are proud of their Kias. They have two each for their family.
But when I test drove the SLK, it didn't have that zip. BMW Z3 3.0 felt much better than the SLK 230 or 320 imo, but it was too much of a girl's car for me. So I went w/ looks and feel and forget the status quo.
One of the reasons why my ex-fiance left me was because I didn't buy a European convertible or a better known (to her family) corvette convertible. She was my Persian princess (daddy is literally a millionaire and was familiar w/ Euro- cars and/or vettes, but not Hondas). I think she was somewhat ashamed of me for getting a Honda. Not enough bragging rights.
My new girlfriend (who just passes her bar, my attorney-at-law), she loves my S. She's not all into that status quo crap. She's getting a Mini cooper, and I'll probably get Cooper S for a second car. My little brother just got one for his second car.
I'm keeping my S until she dies on me, that won't be until... well, at least for not another 10 years or so.

LT: You're better off, dude...I've gone through two over a dumb little thing like the car I drive. That little aspect of Korean culture just drives me nuts too - its very small minded; but its not just Asians that do that (one GF I mentioned was not Asian). So F@#$'em both...well, I actually did but that's another story.
The measure of a man's character is not based on the car they drive...except of course when its an S2000.

Some people who don't like the S, probably heard quotes about it from different car magazines. Stating that it "has no down low torque", its "only a 4-cylinder", or that it is "cute". So instead test driving one to come up with their own opinion, they take these quotes at face value and never the S a chance. All we can do is give them a ride and then let them decide.
