Default Why gap Denso plugs when its already gapped....................................

Im looking at the denso site and part number ik22, and it has the right gap, .044. Can someone please explain? Is it because it wasnt gapped right before? Why are we gapping these plugs when it already has .044 gap??

many plugs say they are pre gapped, but often they are off.

just double check the gapping of the denso plugs. only one of mine was dead on, the others I had to adjust. just make sure you are using the right gapper, not the 'sliding' gapper, which can break the tip off of the plug itself. the denso's tips are quite fragile.

Can't trust what the website says, what is important is what comes out of the box. I just installed four and not one of them was gapped properly out of the box. They were more like .038 to .040!

All four of my Denso plugs had too small a gap out of the box.

That's the correct tool. When adjusting gap, try not to touch the center electrode; just bend the curved one to get the gap correct.

Any problem using feeler-type guages? I used them to gap my Densos but have since read some warnings against using them.
