Why is the Rx8 so much cheaper than S2k?

Based on some of the responses, I wonder how many on here have even tracked or done autocross in an RX-8... I'll bet it's around 5%.

Fanbois don't need to have experience with a car to bash it.
Not another one of these retarded threads, let me sum it all up so we can just close it.
The RX-8 was produced in much higher numbers each year, and is a niche car. It's for someone that wants a sporty car but still needs 2 extra seats and a trunk. Resale is low because of the high output and relatively small target market which in turn generated the big rebates/incentives on new models which in turn drives down pre-owned prices. I paid 20,500 on a 30K sticker 05 RX-8 in the middle of 06 and sold it this month for 18K at a 13% loss after a year and a half, not bad.
Performance is not quite as good as the S2000 but the handling is about on par and the braking is probably better. Check out national level SCCA Solo 2 results and the top B stock times are pretty close to the top A stock S2000 times.
The RX-8's are fairly reliable but lots of TSB's and rumors blown out of proportion make it seem less reliable. I had some small cheap plastic pieces such as the cupholder door, sun visors and some foggy taillights in mine which were all replaced under warranty with no questions asked. Mazda provides free rental car anytime you leave your car there and their warranty/service is 100X better than Honda. They always make sure it's done right and don't question aftermarket mods nearly as much.
If you don't need 2 extra seats and want a little extra performance buy a S2000. If you want most of the S2000 performance in a roomier, quieter more practical car get an RX-8 and save some bucks. You'll have fun either way and they're both more than capable cars.
This is coming from a former RX-8 and S2000 owner who track(ed) both cars regularly not someone speculating from what they read online.

Or, if you are like me who also owned an RX8 and sold it for the S2000 because the S is merely a toy and I wanted a convertible, reasonably fast car with proven Honda reliability.

rx8 is for girls
It's also for boys who don't worry about whether a car is a "girl car," but, rather, only care about how it performs, how it looks, and how it meets their needs. A lot like a Miata, in other words.
Intelligent, secure, boys.

before i bought an s2000 i drove EVERYTHING....and if you want to know why its cheaper, i suggest you drive it. Although the price is appealing after getting behind the wheel you will see why its cheaper.
I sat in one, and quickly got out.
It just felt cheaper--plasticy or something... Mind you, I didn't drive it..
