Just a note it finnaly rained here in sunny san diego after
180+ sunny days and yesterday was a mess. The S2000 is very comfotable driving the the rain at 65 on the freeway, go over that and you are pushing the stock s02's in my opinion.

If you reaally want to learn how fine a line the s2000 has do the snow trick or wet flat parking lot bit, I also suggest a good defensive drivng school.

The S2000 does have a razor edge but nothing like a well sorted 914. I can be going around a perfect circle corner at 70 and at 70 shift the weight in my throotle leg and have the car come around, personally I think honda did a great job on the handling of the car. What I also believe is that the boosting on the steering is not optimulloy set up for wet conditions. I believe that it varies power assist based on speed. They more then likly set it up for dry running only as that is what gets done most of the time.

The S02s should be set to 32 all around. What were YOU running them at if you are running your Sports at less air at 34?

They do this for balance. They slow down with their skates. How long you gonna beat this dead horse? Is this gonna be another thing where I have to go to skaters.com or something?

I'm just going by what the fast drivers on the board say...

Jimmy,

Congratulations on your new 1:18 S2000! Have you ordered a full size one yet?

Although I have not driven mine in the snow, I do drive in cold weather when the roads are clean and dry. I don't drive aggressively when it's cold, and have never had a problem. Also no problems with the occasional rain I've driven in. I did replace my rear tires at 8,000 miles, since they were down to the wear bars, and that's when the trouble starts!

Let me know if you want to get together some time for a cold weather test ride.

Eric

Hey Eric,

Nice to hear from you again. Triple-H said this thread is getting popular because it started from Upstate NY. Hehe.

Anyway, I'd love to get another test ride in your car again in cold condition. And, to see the red color in person again. Also, I want to see if I can get in and out of the car with the top UP. What is your schedule like on the weekends?

I have not placed the order for the full size one yet. I will talk to my family during my X'mas break to discuss the possibility. We'll see how it goes. My color preferences changes week to week... lately I've been having an affair with Spa Yellow.

Take care,
Jimmy

Actually, they do slow down when they outstretch their arms- you can test this with a couple hand weights and a chair that spins.

If you do read it carefully,... not like the job you did with the police car thread where you quoted the top speed for cars running on compressed natural gas.

Try what Honda says next time and you might have better luck with the tires.

Also another thing to remember is that people give you tire pressure advice and sometimes (most?) they don't use a calibrated gauge and their numbers are different from yours. First Mod everyone should have is a calibrated pro racing tire gauge.

Generally tires give the most grip with lower pressure so you want to have the pressure as low as you can without rolling over onto the sidewall in hard turns. To determine this in Auto X you put white shoe polish on the sidewalls of the tires and do a run. If the shoe polish is scuffed your pressure is too low. 32 for the S02s is right on the money.
