Will VSA save me from spin outs?
So, it's been over 2 years since this thread was started. Do people still spin out with VSA?
I hear Honda lately introduced the "new" VSA - Vehicle Stupid Assist. It's a fully automated device that learns the driving skill of the operator. When VSA senses the driver has passed 7/10 of his skill (or stupid) level, a hockey stick pops out of secret compartment and whacks him upside his head. Car saved! Honda technology is absolutely amazing.

I always wonder about the skills of the driver when I see one of these "crazy oversteering S2000 ate my lunch threads". Drivers should post what they drove immediately before the S2000, age, experience, temp, precipitation, road condition along with their story of the incredibly nasty S2000.
I think this was all covered two years ago but.....
==> Tires
==> Temp
==> Precipitation
==> Road condition
==> Driver skill
My 08 has about 12K miles on the OEM RE050's. Yesterday, I drove through extremely heavy thunderstorms for 1.5 hours. Standing water, running water on some streets, tree parts blowing down, etc. I was impressed by the way the RE050's evacuated heavy standing water at reasonable speeds. I expected to feel the tires hydroplane but with the exception of one or two instances, they tracked right through the water.
When the roads were simply wet, the behavior was very predictable. I actually shut off VSA for a while to experiment with grip and play around. The car was always predictable and controllable with or without VSA. And RPM does not matter. Acceleration / deceleration + speed matters whether in a straight line or lateral.
I wonder if all the whining is coming from young drivers who have grown up with FWD and are experiencing RWD for the first time. In that case, I can easily understand all the shock over the "scary" S2000.

VSA boton ... WHAT is VSA , i think is for pussies , 2005 GPW no VSA
2 years of ownership 19 years old , no spins , no crashs .If you are scared about spining buy a wrx or a skyline , they are almost the same shit like playing gran turismo.

One thing I've noticed about the S2000 / RE050's is that on dirt roads, the combination slides like it's on ice. Lot's of fun but seriously reduced grip. And VSA seems to be completely stymied. But I don't believe that either Honda nor Bridgestone had rally racing in mind with the car or tires.

07 with no VSA. The driver IS the damned traction control.
