Someone tried to break into my car; damage!
Someone tried to break into my car. The following pieces are damaged in acordance to the following figure: Parts #5 #3, and #2 need to be replaced.
I can replace the door molding my self, but the black molding along the windshild frame, and the glossy molding that is applied to the frame is going to be a challege; its been dented.
Does anyone have any experience replaceing the glossy black trim around the windshield?
On a side note, I hate the fact that someone tried to break into my car. I can count my blessings that they didn't cut the top; things could have been worse. Besides is just a car....right?
Besides, I'll be on the Dragon in less than 24 hours from now, no point in beeing sad.

part #'s 5,4 and 8 are tape. yes, tape. window frame tape. if it's dented, that means the window frame itself is dented.
search windshield tape and you'll find that many people remove it and underneath is the paint color of the vehicle.

If your Ins. deductable isn't too bad, you might consider turning the car over to your local dealer and have it restored.
I can tell you ,you'll feel much better when you know the car is in the shop and will be back to its's original or better condition and probably much sooner than if you try to track down parts and/or do it yourself..

Just buy the parts, dont go through insurance.
The small dent in the A-pillar wont be able to be fixed, but you can just unbolt that other metal piece. You just pop up two tabs for the rubber moulding and there are two bolts for that metal piece if I remember correctly.
IMO, the damage to the a-pillar is not worth going through insurance for.

-convertible top molding needs to be removed
-windshield molding needs to be removed
-black tape removed
-windshield probably removed
-dents filled and sanded flush
-repaint window frame
-replace tape
-replace all molding
My worst fear is there will be leaks in the roof due to this repair, so probably better off not doing anything.
But damn are those dents starting to look ugly!
