After the install, the water gutter that meets the glass near the hood is not completely flush against the glass.

Thanks for checking that for me Boiler. Yes- for lack of a better term, I use "water gutter" haha. Its the plastic piece that goes under the hood and channels water away and down the sides and middle. Mine has about a 1-2 mm space almost uniformly across now, so I suspect the water will run into that space- and I don't know what else is in there. I believe the bottom of the windshield seats against the frame in there and with continuous water getting under there it could eventually leak or break the windshield sealant.

I'll have to ask the dealer about it when I go have my spark plug recall done. I think there was supposed to be a sealant used there to keep it snug against the windshield and that wasn't used when the replacement was done.

It seems that every single place where I've ever had work done, does it half way or doesn't take pride in their work. "Small details" like using sealants to secure parts seem to easily be overlooked because its a hassle to do it right.

Oh well...I try to tell myself, its only a car... I still cringe everytime I wash it when I see the gaps at the seams of bumper, headlights, taillights, etc where the shop that painted it didn't get things put back together to factory specs. Its almost like you need to bribe someone at the shop and offer them a few hundred $ off the books to make sure its all done well. And while I hate to say it, I feel like this is typical of the US automotive industry- quality workmanship is often overlooked because its just a job and no one takes pride in what they do any more. Its more about quantity than quality...
