Default Windshield Tape

I've noticed that the Miata winshield frames are the color of the car. Why would an S2k owner want to remove the black tape and make the car look more like the Miata?

esthetics and if the owner had a hardtop the tape would come off so that the top matched the frame and the fram mached the car

also pretty sure the S does not come with tape in Japan

Personally I like it better w/o the windshield tape whether the soft top is up, hardtop, or topless.

It's a personal choice Just like why would someone add racing stripes to their car?
