why everyone is saying that? it's cheaper to make a regular c5 faster with the price different. go search on the vette forum, most people seems to agree on this.
the interior sucks big time, but hell, if you plan to do mod, do it on the c5.
there's people running around with headworks and bolt on with 4-500 hp, with boost, 1000ish hp is not rare.

I bought the S cause it was fast, but also because it was unique. Not a whole lot of them around. Plus, it's fun to pull up next to some trailer trash in a Z06 (not stereotyping here, just thinking about one specific asswipe) and making him regret mocking you.

In my opinion, if you're buying a car that you plan on modding extensively JUST to get a shit-ton of HP/TQ, then who wouldn't buy a Vette or something else with a V8? If I took the money tied up in my S and put it into a V8, I'd be pushing two to three times as much power to the wheels!.

I sold my '01 S for a '03 Z06 (C5). My Z06 was a beast, a better daily driver, and a better racing car (auto-x, street, and 1/4 mile drags). It was awesome knowing that nobody had a faster OEM car for the money and it was American-made. You'll only know if it was a mistake after the fact, no matter what anyone else says.
Back in '03 there were not many FI S2000's beyond the Comptech s/c. I'm no mod-mad trailblazer when it comes to my daily driver. If I still had my S today I'd probably keep it, building the motor with a proven turbo and the usual diff improvements.
Today I'm building a lust for the Cayman S, M Coupe, or Exige S.

Have you considered a 4:77 rear end or a supercharger for your S2000? Might be a whole lot cheaper than selling your S2000 and buying a 'Vette, yet might rekindle that love affair with your Honda.
There have been a lot of valid points made on this thread, but the most valid is that you are the only one who can answer if the Corvette is for you. No car is perfect, and there are a whole series of compromises in any decision that you will make. And none of these decisions are likely to be made from wholly rational reasons. Listen to your heart and do what it tells you to do, if the insurance rates allow you to do it.

Corvette insurance is cheaper than the S2K. S2K's are rated as one of the most expensive. Check with your insurance.
Corvette coverage for me is WAY more expensive than the S. State Farm treats my S like a Civic basically.
Going from a 97 civic 4 door to an 02 S2K cost me $30 more / month. Not a big increase considering the difference in the value of the two vehicles and the potential for an accident in the S vs the Civic.
