Would you rather...
Well, when I made my first post I was under the impression that you had one car that was an AP! and one that was an AP2 that was roughly around the same price. Now that I see you're looking ONLY at an AP1 and saying "maybe theres an AP2 around this..." I say go with the one in best condition possible - paint, clean body, clean under hood, get a comp test and if all of that checks out, you're good to go.
Wow. Cool topic. Have to say, I have never seen this one before. Should I pick the sweet-ass convertible or the sweet-ass convertible? In my car buying career, I would usually tend to go for the vehicles with the lower milegae. But, just because the mileage is lower, doesnt mean that that vehicle was taken any better care of and may have harder city miles on it. i think in this case you just have to base your decision on the overall condition of the vehicle. You wont be disappointed with either one. I have to say that I am leaning toward the ap1 only because I have never owned one and I do like to dip my toe into as many different automotive pools as possible. IMO, your dillema is a good one to have. Good luck.

Daily Driver AP2, Weekend car AP1.
There's something about 9000 rpms...

Well ...bone stock vs bone stock does the AP1 with its 9k redline get to 60mph faster? Does it get to 1/4 mile faster? Top end? Cornering? Overall handling? And lets be accurate as to the actual redlines here. It's 9000 vs 8200. Not 9k vs 8k. Unless the Ap1 is 8800. Just sayin'. I do know that the AP-2 delivers a bit more torque. Not significant but a bit more. Sorta like the rpm thing.Just to be real and all.

What year ap2?
If yo uget 06+ you can flashpro it for cheap. Ap1 required a piggy back system.
Personally I'd rather have a lower mileage car and they can be found. Not during the winter so much but come spring/summer.

buy AP2, mod it to handle 9k

Comparing 8.2k to 9k redline on two different stroke motors is like pickin' fly shit out of pepper.
