This is a nice talk about adjusting the 2.2 to 9k but i would never do that. When i get the car i'll be lucky to have enough spare cash to get an intake or any mods for that matter.

I think i'm leaning towards an ap2. But i've never shifted at 9k either . Going to test drive an 01 tomorrow.

I drove an 04 with just a k&N intake. The sound at vtec was very addicting. I don't know if i'd average more than 10 miles a gallon the first few months, but who cares really.

I don't think turbos are that important. Are they?

While I'm biased toward the AP1, I would go with the car that is the best condition in your price range. A welled cared for 85K mile car is likely in better shape than a drive it and forget it 45K mile car. Also if a 2001 is priced the same as a 2005 because of 40K less miles than the AP1 is overpriced. You should be able to find AP1's in good shape in the 50K mileage range for $12,000 or so this time of year.

test drove the 01 with 45k today. The dealer has it priced at $16,900, haha. It truly looks mint. I didn't push it too hard on the test drive (shifted around 7k a few times), but everything felt really solid, accelerated straight, braked straight.

Might make a low ball offer tomorrow to just see how bad they want to move it before EOY.

That's a rip off especially since the value of roadsters has dropped tremendously since the economic slow down and it's winter!

Just to give you an idea of how bad a price that is....I bought my 2002 model with 12,000 miles on it back in the middle of 2006 for $19,500 with an extra set of Ap1 rims and snow tires thrown in on the deal. Car looked like it just came off the showroom floor.
