I put in a K&N FIPK as my only "mod".

This way, as I go between, "Why screw with what Honda did?" and "I want more.." and "maybe I am doing more harm than good", etc., I can satisfy my needs quickly and cheaply by continuously replacing the assembly with the stock one, many times per week.

It's in storage right now, so I have time to post.

One of the reasons I bought the S was it is so good stock. Although I understand modding as a hobby and form of personal expresion, it does very little to improve the car itself. My personal experience (and lots of posts on this site) back this up. The roads are full of unbalanced aftermarket wheels with the wrong offset, poorly fitting CF parts that weigh more than stock, cracked headers and exaust systems, add on lips and wings that increase drag, and sound systems that take up most of the trunk but add very little to the driving experience in a convertible. When you add in reduced reliability and voided warranties it just does not seem worth the cost.

You cannot improve on perfection.!!!
A perfect car has never been manufactured. Every single one contains some compromise. How could any one car possibly be perfect for a 5'2" 140 lb driver
and a 6'4" 250 lb driver.

The S2000 is a very good collection of compromises but perfect ??? You're kidding right ?

the subject line and actual poll questions are different. i am not modded but i do feel the car could be improved with a few suspension upgrades along with a massive stereo upgrade.

as others have said, this car to me is not about prestige or looks (even though it does look cool). it's about making your own life more fun while doing what is a mundane task (driving) for most people. any mod that adds to the "fun" of the car is worth it to me, ie gears, cg lock, shortshifter, act pp. in addition, the stock car is not comfortable enough, imo. headrest pillows and seat heaters make the difference.

but overall, money spent on cars is usually a poor use of resources and certainly the opposite of a good investment.

Man's gotta have a hobby. Personalizing my car in tasteful subtle ways is one of my favorite. Technically, any change could be considered a mod so I'm betting that practically all will change something eventually. Hell, simply taking things out to reduce weight is a "mod". Purism, like bad taste can be taken too far by some. Interest in the car drives me to have a "hands on" approach that involves more than just driving. Researching the changes are key. Common sense is your friend.

So true. Ever see the dudes who TRUELY restore cars from the 60's? There was one I saw on TV. When the factory was making the cars they would cut little circles out of the carpet to make access to the seat belt bolts. Then, because they didn't know what else to do with the extra carpet pieces, they would just toss the scrap back into the car. These resto guys, actually remade the scrap pieces and put them in the footwell of the car so they could be THAT authentic.

You wanna rock the TRUE JDM y0? Put back the plastic and the spring spacers and put the car in a sealed chamber.

Modism can be taken too far also. This is my opinion but lets talk about people who aren't professional racers or sponsored by companies who spend tens of thousands on parst just to replicate the Amuse S2000 or the Mugen S2000. Sure it looks and drives nice but I doubt it was worth the money and seems like going too far for nothing.

I bought the car in May with no intention of modding. It was good enough for me in stock form. I felt in the end I would save more money by buying this car,as opposed to an RSX or something where I would continue to dump money in it.

It all started when I removed the S2000 emblems off the side.....now I have intake and a testpipe. In the process of getting a T1R 70mm and looking towards a J's header and a set of Ce28ns by summer.
