Zip down center full tonneau cover
I am working on a prototype full tonneau cover for my S2000. Having owned Miatas and using a full tonneau, I enjoy them. I like being able to zip half on driver side and leave the passenger half covered. Great for cool weather. I am going to make one that snaps on like the Miata. The snaps would go along inside bottom of windshield/dash to secure front and snap along top of doors on the black trim as well as on black trim around rear of top. The snaps will be black and will not stand out with top up or tonneau off. I find the look and fit to be clean, tight smooth with snaps. I have no problem drilling small holes in top trim to install small black snaps.
I am curious if anyone else might have an interest in such a cover and would not object to the snaps. If there was any interest it might be something that I could offer to others. If any interest , post your thoughts.

Snaps give the tightest, cleanest fit as well as a secure fit. I have investigated other means and will continue, however all tonneau covers for older roadsters and newer seem to secure with a pull snap of some sort.

I was afraid that you'd say that, and I do believe that you are right. My MGB had a tonneau with snaps. I loved the tonneau and hated the snaps.
Please keep looking. And post your progress.
Thanks.

I think that you might be able to us Ricks glove fit console cover for an idea. My jeep wrangler uses the same idea. Using a hard plastic to fit into a groove. There might be the space required between the dash and the defroster vents.
Any thoughts?

Yes, this is a good possibility. My initial feeling and experimentation seems to be that it would be difficult to get a tight ,stretched, fit, needed on a tonneau. To look good, it must be stretched across the width and front/rear of car with no sagging. Having owned other roadsters with tonneaus, it seems that snaps are most secure.
The high back seats and roll bars, also present a challenge.....you either create pockets to cover them or allow them to protrude. I am experimenting both ways and have discovered that elastic bands going around them looks good, gives a flat clean look and might be a thought. Since a tonneau is not designed to be water proof, just avoid dust, sun, and maybe morning dew.....the roll bars exposed may not be a great concern and indeed adds a sportier look. Another choice is clear vinyl for the roll bars which could protect and still allow them to show.

I'd be interested in the tonneau, but I am reluctant to install the snaps. Is there any other way to secure the tonneau?
I am thinking how to secure my tonneau cover. I am planning to purchase one but I am worrying that it might loss.
