Default 00-03 vs. 04-05 --- S2000 engine

Just wondering if an oil filter from an ap2 will fit on an ap1?
Changing my oil and need to know if I can just pick up some oil filters from my local Honda dealership or do they carry ap1 products?

Also, is a head swap possible from an F20 onto an F22 block?

The oil filter answer is YES - in fact, the "2004+" filter is the best OE filter Honda has made for the S2000 - perhaps the best one out there, period.

Regarding the head - dunno - of all the improvements the 2004 has over previous years (esp the drivetrain/diff), not sure the head is one worth a 2nd look - do you have a 2004 parts car or something?

I think the head from an F20 could be swapped to an F22. just not sure why you'd do it.....

Road- No, I don't have a parts car. I just got my 2000 S two days ago.

Wis- I was just curious if you could have the extra torque of the new engines with a 9000 rpm redline is all.

Thanks, will be picking up some oil and filters tomorrow.

While there have been some modifications to the '04-'05 head, the limitation is with the bottom end. Honda didn't lower the redline just for the hell of it - they did it for reliability because the rod/stroke ratio isn't optimal for high-rpm operation.

yup. like he said. the bottom end is where the change was made, so swapping heads won't give you the extra torque on your F20C that the F22C has.
