It is pretty loose for about 2 inches +/-. You are talking about the Clutch Master Cylinder right?

My guess based on that description is that the clutch is not disengaging.

2" of free play is consistent with an improperly bled hydraulic system. It can also indicate improper adjustment, but since bleeding is so finicky in the S2000, it's good that you decided to start there.

Okay, I took it to a mechanic who said it wasnt the slave cylinder or master. He said he could open it up and find out whether or not it was the clutch. He said if it wasn the clutch then it was definetly the tranny. So they opened it and found out that a piece of the clutch disc had broken and was jamming things up a little.

Next to the springs there are these little metal pieces that protect the springs (or thats what they look like they are for) and thats the piece that had broken.

So thanks for your help and I hope this helps someone diagnose there problems later.

This is not the first time it's been reported lately. In fact, it has become an alarming new trend. "Jasonoff" posted pics of his, showing this piece hanging there.

Did someone call me??

I suspect the previous owner was hard on the downshifts. Those springs are designed to absorb the shock. If they constantly downshift without rev matching it probably puts too much stress on the retainers.

I drove my previous S to 70K miles. I bought my current at 40K and my disc broke while at Beaverun in Pittsburg. I had aprox 62K on it when it broke.

I replaced with the HT guy recommended ACT + Comptech fly setup. Then shortly after I had to replace all the hydraulics :headbang:

Here's a couple more pics of the OE clutch

Hahah yea thats exactly what mine looks like but mine broke completely off and was rubbing against the actual disc so it was becoming hard to shift.
