I think yflyer needs to re-state his question. It's kind of vague to me -- it comes off as either a DBW issue to me, or a driving flaw to me.
If we're talking about hitting the gas (while in gear) and there is some drivetrain bucking, then yes, that's a trait of all manual cars. If we're talking about no response at all after hitting the gas, then suddenly the RPMs shoot up, then that's a DBW issue.
Edit: Or it could be the low RPM stumble of the IAC valve?
