2000mile tranny, Wants to grind 2nd when cold.
Well I got an 05 trans for my AP1. Only has 2000 miles on it, checked the VIN everything and it matches what the junkyard folk told me. They have a 30 day warranty on it and it must be in working condition for them to sell it. Also have a HTG clutch kit that went in with it. Drives fine. But it is super notchy compared to how my AP1 trans was, which also had 120k. Also its getting colder out (30-40F) when I go to leave 2nd gear almost always wants to grind until warmed up. 3rd doesnt even want to go in sometimes when cold. But after about 5 minutes it goes back to being normal. Is this the shifter needing greased, a clutch rod adjustment issue, hopefully not a bad trans or just it being cold out? Car has new Honda MTF and correct new diff fluid. Clutch fluid is rather new and at a good level.
If I were you, I would do several things.
1. Verify clutch is not dragging and make adjustments as necessary. (usually like 4-5mm free play in the pedal)
2. Bleed slave cyl, make sure all air is out of it
3. grease shifter with Honda UREA grease
4. grind nipple off slave cyl for shits if you haven't done so already..
should help out a bit
