Default 3rd 4th gear change

Hi Guys, (happy friday)

Problem that developed a of late

When the car has warmed up it seems difficult to get into 3rd and 4th gear? All the other gears seem fine with no issues

As mentioned, it only does it after about 10 minutes of driving and it feels as thought I have to put extra force to get it into those two gears. There is no grinding just feels as thought gearstick is in mud if that makes sense, but again only when warm

Anyone else had this problem?

Thank you for any help

Start with the basics and you'll probably fix the issue:

- Replace transmission fluid

- Replace clutch fluid (can use turkey baster method to partially change it without bleeding the system--search the forums for info)

- Adjust shifter linkage if needed

Also, sometimes my 3 -> 4 shift feels a little "weird" for lack of a better term. It feels like coming out of 3rd is less immediate than all other gear changes. Does that sound like what you are experiencing? I never really looked into it since the issue only seems to happen about 5% of the time for me, but it is always on that particular shift.

Hi syn,

Thank you for taking the time to reply and the excellent information. I will try all of what you have mentioned

I guess yes you could say that, feels like there is slowing the shift from 3rd to 4th or getting into 3rd from 4th. It's a though there is a pocket of air

Thank you again

Does it grind? My AP1 does this from 3rd to 4th but only on the track at high rpm's. I am assuming the synchros are just worn.

Hi there,

No there' no grinding at all which is strange hence why I cant think of a straight forward solution that been covered before on the forum

I will try the tranny fluid change first and see how I get on

Thank you
