no video ... but got an update.

they took a look at it, did a compression check. 225 across the board they said. he thinks its a wrist pin, because it only makes the noise with no load on the engine. may have ****ed up the connecting point on the piston.

FML ... he told me 2100 plus parts, to pull ... disassemble ... reassemble and install

FML, got a baby coming on monday too. wtf.

used engines around here go for about $2000-$3500 depending on mileage and condition. check craiglist. i'm about to pull the trigger on an engine for $2300 from one of the members here.

am i weird though to say id rather spend the money to know where the block came from, know whats in it instead of buying a used engine with no knowledge? i might POSSIBLY replace some performance parts upgrades for 3000

Come on. These guys recommend to you one of the most knowledgable S2000 engine mechanics in the country and you don't want to have it towed 50 or 60 miles? So you take it to a place called Camber Toe -- a shop that specializes in suspension and alignments?

I don't really know anything about the shop you took it to but I can pretty much bet that they don't specialize in S2000 engines.

You know there is such a thing as being penny wise and pound foolish. Check around, there are ways to get discounted towing if you set it up ahead of time.

Ask Bill if he knows of a reasonably priced tow service.

Play it safe on this one. Go with Billman. It will save you $ in the end.
