Dude seriously? You're still "on the fence" about Billman. I live no where even remotely close to NY and I would take it to Bill if I was up there. I can't believe this post has gone this long. Save some$ and let Bill take care of it. He's one of the most trusted S2k mechanics on the east coast.

first off, congrats on your baby girl! secondly, shut that engine before you cause more damage. sounds like it's coming from your bottom end, but i'll let someone with more experiment make the call. like billman stated, if the problem were to be in your cylinder head (valves) if wouldn't be running.
the more you run it, the more damage you are doing.

SHUT IT OFF AND KEEP IT OFF.

Then get it to Billman.

If you're lucky, you need bearings. If you throw a rod, you're toast.

Spun bearing.

It sounds like it is fixable. don't run the engine anymore. Right now, the bearing halves have not walked on top of each other. Once they do, the connecting rod will damage the crankshaft.

Stop running it.

I can get you pics of what I am talkimng about if you dont understand. I'll PM you my number.

Like I said, the car here now had the same problem. He towed it here and its good as new.

Guy before him drove it for weeks like that. bearings walked on top of each other, and damaged the crankshaft.

Hey a couple weekends ago i accidently shifted from second at redline to first at the track while in a corner. The cars still perfect so keep your hopes up it could be something simple and the engines fine. Please add more details on the noise and when and where exactly its coming from.
just FYI since i've been doing a ton of research on this the last few days and you have an AP1... that could have caused your valve spring retainers to crack in which case you will not see any symptoms until one of them actually gives out and causes major engine damage. you should get that checked out. there are a few great DIYs on this site
