AC compressor stays on at all times. Help please

Default AC compressor stays on at all times. Help please

Ok so i have never had a problem with the AC before. I recently just replaced the bottom end in my car due to detonation. I pulled the AC compressor off the old motor and just put it to the side without opening the lines, and i re-used it on the new motor.

the car is turbo and has been turbo on the previous motor. Again i have never had this problem before. If i push the AC button off it still stays on and it continues to spin. The only time it will actually stop is if i am giving like 80% throttle or more. The car is on an AEM and im not sure if its just something set up wrong or what. Right now i have the AC unclipped. The reason why i dont want it on all the time is because the coolant temps stay a little hotter then they should. So i want to be able to control the AC again, any input will be great, thanks.

Only thing I can come up with is to insure that the controls are not in defrost mode.A/C compressor on my 06' unit states in the manual that when in deforst mode regardless of any other setting the compressor clutch is energized with inside fan on. Otherwise I have no clue why yours would remain on.

yea, ive moved it to just blowing forward, ive done just feet etc.

Again i haven't messed with anything on the dash, or anything with the engine harness etc.

Its getting annoying, hopefully someone else can think of something.

First step. Check to see if the compressor clutch is permanently engaged or is being activated they the HVAC controls.

Ok, so i have almost no knowledge on AC compressors, so how do i check to see if the compressor clutch is engaged, or by the HVAC controls.

Please add some more detail, unless there is a thread on here somewhere that goes into depth on it more. thanks

Look at the center of the A/C compressor - with the compressor off, the outside will continue to spin, but the inside will be stationary. The is the end with the pulley on it.

yea, it all spins at all times, unless i give it full throttle.

You'll need to know if the clutch is engaged due to a malfunction of the clutch coil mechanism or if clutch coil is steadily being energized by the HVAC control.

To test the clutch coil signal you will need a multimeter. Probe the clutch coil signal wire, run the car, and verify that you are getting an intermittent 12v signal. An intermittent 12v signal will clear the compressor of fault.

Voltage to the compressor clutch should correspond with rotation of the compressor. If there's a constant 12v and the compressor is running constantly, then the clutch is doing what it is being "told" to do by the HVAC control.

If the compressor is running even when there is not 12v. to the clutch, then there is a mechanical failure of the clutch.
