Default AEM V2 Intake?

I just ordered an AEM V2 for my 05 s2000 to get a little extra power. AEM quotes in their dyno run that the intake added 8.5 hp to the wheels and a little more than 7 torque. Has anyone had a chance to use this intake or know of another intake that adds a little growl and power for under $400 bucks?

my bro is running the V2 and i am running the K and N FIPK kit. mine is louder that his and that is about it. HP gains are going to be minimal when running intakes, that is if you dont consider the comptech supercharger as an intake!

yes you will get more power. noticable gains? possibly, but you will have improved throttle response, and a nice new growl from the front end.

Just as long as you don't expect to feel a difference then you will get a minimal gain of a few hp, but the sound will make your engine sound much deeper from 4k-up.

As far as the general consensus goes, the V2 is one of the best if not the best power producing intake, if I'm not mistaken.

I had it for a year before going turbo. Lowed the sound but to be honest, an intake header and exhaust work as a combo so please do not expect to pull on your homies like with NOS or something.
I live in Dubai where it does not rain (well only the last 3 days it does like crazy) so hydrolock is not an issue. However, you might consider the hydrolock issiue and just go for a SPoon snorkel replica for 50bucks on eBay..that's what I would do if it rains where I live.
