Default Aem V2 intake install

Wow. I have never been so overwhelled with crappyness in my life.

I bought an s2000 V2 intake used for next to no cash, I'm well aware that modifying the intake on a naturally aspirated car with the highest horspower/displacement is gunna net me about 0 hp. If I'm lucky.

I just kinda liked the sound of them.

I wasn't sure how it installed but I figured it wouldn't be to much of a pain.
when installing this you basically jam a 3" intake into 2.95" gap between the front cross member and the cooling fans. The powder coating was so professionally done on this that it virtually all flaked off during installation. Brilliant. I'm already impressed.

So why is it 3 inches ....... Well to make mad sick horsepower of course.
However it has to merge down to 2.5" to mate up with the throttle body. So why is it 3 inches in diameter again. If flow mattered so much wouldn't it be a little better to make it 2.5" thorugh the entire length and forgo the loss coefficient of tapering it down and maybe improve fitment?

I guess it wouldn't make mad sick horsepower then.

Next step, you have to cut your inner wheel well fender and expose this unshielded filter to road splash all while it's turned on an upward angle

No F'n way. Can you say hydrolock batman!!!

How much horsepower can YOU make with a bent connecting rod???

This is pure F'n negligence. These guys should have to eat the cost of every bloody engine that get's hydrolocked. They even have the balls to say it won't void your warranty and then later tell you not to use it in heavy rain. Brilliant.

A quick search on the website shows guys making umbrella's and crap for their intakes

I wouldn't have the heart to sell this POS to anybody. So I smashed it repeatedly against the concrete steps in my garage until I got my 50 bucks out of it.

Ya can't fix stupid.

Tell us how you really feel

You are right, it is pretty much crap and I wouldn't use one in this climate. I have one on my race car however.

Hehehe amusing story, I like the "I smashed it repeatedly against the concrete steps in my garage until I got my 50 bucks out of it" part

I had a comptech on my previous (MY04), Randy modified it to fit.

Whenever a company says direct bolt-on, it usually isn't true

Mine too.

The best part is you don't need to cut anything.

If you're going to daily drive your car in all seasons, I might not have bothered. It will be a pain to clean the filter every 10k or so.

For me, a weekend warrior it sounds nice and there is a hp/tq increase.

Let's get one thing straight It wasn't hard to install.
I'm not a tool,

I just thought that stressing the cooling fan shield by jamming a big pipe in there, cutting the inner fender and turing your intake upwards so that it is a rain catcher show some pretty serious oversights with severe consequences that would have been easy enough to correct.

So I corrected it by taking it off, beating the crap out of it, and installing the OEM intake back on. Problem solved.

No, nothing.

Just removed the smaller bottom portion of the splash guard, the wheel cover is flexiable enough to bend around intake pipe
