Air Conditioner and Engine 'Missing'?
Okay, the engine isn't really 'missing' I suppose.
I have a 2001 and didn't use the air much last year at all. This year while it's on, I have a very noticable engine dip at 4000 RPM's. It happens quickly and nearly feels like it's missing. I drive around alot at 4000 in 1,2,3,4 gears. Many times I will feel the car do this and glance down to the tach.....Yep, it's at 4000 with the air on. I should say that it happens on a regular basis. I searched through the threads and only found one and most said their cars did great with the A/C on. Mine doesn't and also gives me the glitch mentioned. On a harder acceleration, I can't feel it. But such a huge chunk of time is spent around 4000!
Any ideas as to the problem?
Is this normal?

No, I haven't checked the air filter lately. It has less than 8000 miles on it.
So the compressor cycles on at 4000 RPM's all the time? I would say that I drive only about 4 miles to get home from work, it must happen 8 times within that time.
If it's normal, then that's fine, but it sure seems VERY noticable and happening quite often.
I suppose I can check the plugs, but it only seems to happen with the air on. Either way, I'll check tomorrow.
Oh, I forgot to mention that sometimes coming down on RPM's towards 4000 it also does it with air on, so not just going up in power.

Funny how it does this just at 4000 rpm since the A/C will cycle on and off whenever it needs to. Could this be coincidence? I've noticed that when my A/C cycles on, the voltage dips down to 13.8V when normally it's at 14.2V. Also, if I haven't used my A/C for a while (more than a couple of days), when I do use it, the engine idles down to almost a stall before it picks back up to the usual 1000 rpm. It takes about 3-5 such episodes before it "learns" and won't do it again as long as I don't leave the A/C unused for more than a couple of days.
That's what I thought, it cycled on/off as needed, not just at a certain RPM. I don't think it is a coincidence. Seriously, I kinda forget about it, then I'll just be cruising along and feel it lag, it's always at 4000 RPM's.
Seems weird, I just don't remember it happening last summer. I never drive the car hard with the A/C on.
I should get use to it soon, my car always seems to do weird things! It seems to act and sound different every day! Hate to take it in and have some nut tear it up. Plus, my dealer has S2k idiots in the maintenance dept. They know nothing about the car.
